Seeing as he doesnt have an ounce of college coaching experience and the fact that he's a terrible NBA coach......whats not to love?

Kevin Ollie didnt have much college coaching experience - that many years as an NBA player and a NBA asst would lead me to believe he knows bball just fine and would do well as a college coach - he didnt pick his roster in NY - can't blame only him for that debacle

coaching college and the NBA are dramatically different but I have no doubt the guy knows basketball - I am surprised more NFL guys don't make the jump to college - they don't have to deal with all the drama that you do with the NBA guys and many of their salaries are comparable with the good college jobs

There you go..............I have no doubt that he knows basketball, I mean he has been coaching it in the NBA for some time. However, I doubt that he would be able to recruit and our recruiting is a whole lot different that someone recruiting to UCONN.

Hey Recruit ?, you want to play in the NBA. I know what it takes to play in the NBA. You want someone to develop you into an NBA player? I'm your guy.

Seems like that would at least open a few doors. Larry Brown uses that pitch.

As an Atlanta area resident and seeing first hand how the Hawks played with him at the helm I would pass.

Yeah, thats why not a single program in the country has ever reached out to him to fill a position.....of any capacity.

Speaking of the Knicks, Billy Donovan's name has been mentioned as a replacement for Woodson while Hoiberg and Izzo have been linked to the Timberwolves according to cbs sports.com.

I wonder if he would be interesting in giving college coaching a spin. At least he doesn't have a buy out, and probably has enough Knicks money in the bank that he doesn't need a huge salary.

Woodson would be a home run hire. He could certainly sell his NBA experience to recruits. I know the chances are probably 0, but can you think of any other strictly NBA coaches coming down the college level?

Why?...He sucks as a coach

Who you got left? He would certainly be a bigger name than anyone else on the current list.

Again, I do understand that he isn't going to be the coach of U.T. and will not be contacted. I do find it interesting that a coach with 9 years of NBA head coaching experience, including leading his team to the playoffs 5 times sucks as a basketball coach.

Mike Woodson went:

13-69
26-56
30-52
37-45 - First round playoff loss
47 - 35 - Second round playoff loss
53-29 - Second round playoff loss

I think I see a trend, can you pick it out?

They also refused to re-sign him to a contract..In which part he became an ASSISTANT in New York before they fired the head coach and he became the interim coach and then named head coach now he is fired...See a trend?...How do you go from head coach to assistant if you were a decent head coach?...Now he is fired as a head coach...Yep, I see a trend!

I think you missed the trend.

Anyway, Mike Woodson won't be the coach at U.T. I'm sure Donnie Tyndall brings more coaching credibility to the table anyway.

Over the other proposed candidates I believe hiring a former college All American, Former NBA player with 9 years of NBA head coaching experience, and 9 years of NBA assistant coaching experience would be a home run hire.

If he was hired, he could find assistants with the recruiting experience. Plus, Bruce and Thig could give him pointers.
