What a great video! Here's another I found moving:

Emilie Rae Cochrane on X: "Some more tears for your timeline. Joey Aguilar's grandmother emotional after he throws a 53-yard TD to Mike Matthews. #Vols https://t.co/mKAL2SOVp7" / X

He's got a long way to go to earn this status, but Aguilar gives me some hope that he may become our Dalton Knecht of football, a late-bloomer who scrapped his way up the ladder to shine on the biggest stage with humility and with gratitude for the opportunity given him. I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do this year.

Indeed. It's those guys that were discounted early on, kept competing, always trying to find a way and don't take anything for granted that seem to find a way to seize that opportunity when it comes along. I think that's why I like Aguilar, he has earned this and came from waaay behind to now be the starting QB at Tennessee.

Any word from JA on who the targeted receiver on that play was?
You can see JA motioning for Matthews to go long, it was all JA and Matthews improvising. Another play Nico will never make, just like the Thomas TD the 1st week. The Matthews play was JA being the gunslinger everybody has been talking about.

I believe TS Jr either improvised or ran the wrong route. Guarantee both weren't that close together by design.

JA directed MM to change his route, then threw off his back foot, and the ball ended up about 20 feet from where he was trying to throw it (down the sideline).

Joey Aguilar is one of the best stories in CFB. UCLA trash has become Tennessee treasure, and he has the opportunity to leave his mark and become a Vol Legend. I love everything about this kid
