They didn't commit to U.T. They committed to Dooley!!!
Dooley leaves and they change their committment.

Dooley said he "sold the university" so if a change were to occur, they wouldn't be bound to one coach.

FTR, I agree with cutting Zanca, Goeas, and Barnes.

Bump for the original question...

Who was Jacek recruiting to Cincy? I'm guessing we're gonna see some new names at some point soon.

We will see some new names, but one to look out for is EJ Levenberry...SIrmon and Wilcox were recruiting him hard before they left and he was all vol until they left...Sunseri was recruiting him a little, but if the new staff gets him to listen, I think we have a great shot....

I didn't mind seeing Barnes go, but why the other two? We will probably be in the same position as last year, just scrambling for bodies. I don't see us making a significant upgrade so it doesn't make sense.

He ruled us out for a reason. Someone will benefit from Sal going to FSU if he really does have a problem with him, but it won't be Tenn.

Because they weren't very good, and they were slow. We could probably get 3 more LB's of their caliber pretty easily, just a little smaller with more speed. Levenberry might be in the mix again now that Sal is going to FSU.

They were not bad at all. Goeas was extremely quick sideline to sideline for an ILB. Please name some names though? Tommy Tate? Lol ok, not an upgrade at all. I hope you don't think we are gonna sign Mlb's that run 4.5 or better. Let me guess you probably also think Rueben Foster and Trey Johnson are really in play also? EJ and those two aren't happening.

Agree! This is someone that has said he would now consider Tn. He has the size(6'3"-230) speed(4.6-4.7 40), and I believe his gpa was 3.7. Go get him CBJ.

We won't be getting EJ, Reuben, or Trey so who will be these magical impact MLBs that we'll get folks? If you've got guys already committed to UT that are decent prospects keep them before going after new "decent" prospects to replace them. Zanca and Goeas would've been better than putting some little guys we'll have to redshirt and teach everything in their first 2 years. Also a guy like Zanca could be moved to DE with his DT experience and his body type. Dumb move IMO.......

Just wish we could get a couple of pure big bruising headhunters in the middle of our D again...

People do realize there is a difference between a 34 ILB and 43 MLB right? Unless you are just a super awesome 5 star guy there is a huge difference. The linebackers we let go/lost are guys that fit in a 34 and would not fit very well in a 43.

There's no point in discussing this with you if you're just going to put words in my mouth.

Good middle linebackers don't need blazing speed. They need to be stout and hold down the middle. London Fletcher is the best example I have.

Only 3 ILB at the NFL combine ran sub 4.65 in the 40 last year. Only 5 better than 4.70. Give me a mean guy that makes plays all day. The two guys we cut could have helped. Plus we need at least five LB's IMO.

Brandon Spikes is a great example. And he was very successful in the 4-3 in college. A MLB doesn't have to contain he has to fill the running lanes in the middle and all the cutback lanes. If Nick Reveiz can get away with playing winning football then the others can easily make it happen.

I think this is the point of the thread...now that we let go/lost Zanca etc, who are we targeting as their replacements? What other 43 mlb'ers are we recruiting?
