Mike Leach (Texas Tech)

The Leach Bandwagon train got dismantled last night and if Hamilton hires Leach he needs to be run out of town!

I'll just say it....Leach is Hal Mummee. if you want to see how that offense will workin the SEC, see Kentucky when tim couch was there.

Leach would be fun for a few years, but what you saw last night is what will happen when you play competent defenses, more so that OK's last night mind you, in the SEC....

Leach is smarter than Mumme, but your point still stands.

It's not just that OU has a great defense, it's just Stoops knows the offense as well as Leach, because Leach was his OC for a couple years IIRC.

agreed Lex,...i just couldn't watch last night w/out thinking to myself..."what a joke".

as for Stoops knowing the defense, i'll agree with that as well. but he made it look really easy....something Will Muschamp couldn't do.

all that was proved last night is that Stoops and OK are still the daddy in the big 12.

and if you remember the TX/OK game..........officiating played a role in that game. scoreboards being what they are, it's hard to ignore the final score of the game, but i didn't walk away from the TX/OK game ever thinking TX was THAT much better than OK.

Great win for Stoops. I've said it for more than a year but he's my "pipe dream" guy for TN.

Yeah, OU is still tops. The loss to Texas also came partly due to some less than stellar officiating, and Ryan Reynolds, their stud MLB, getting hurt early in the game. Texas was shut down before the injury and went off after.

Last night the coach with the best athletes won...BIG.

Perhaps I've deluded myself into thinking with similar athletes on both sides of the ball Leach would be more competitive consistently.

The real problem exposed with Leach last night was the inability to run the football. We can't go in that direction again.

 and there was a point where i couldn't help but think Leach had no answer....it got to 21 zip, and he had a "what the hell do i do now?" look on his face.

the game plan works fine so long as nothing happens to gum up the works.....anything outside that, and well, you saw it last night.

Leach is way too cerebral for TN. Most of our fans wouldn't have any idea what the hell he was talking about. I was never for hiring him and last night solidified my opinion.

Correct me if Im wrong, but didn't Oklahoma crush Cincinnati 52-26.I know Texas Tech got killed last night, but why do people think Brian Kelly is any better than Mike Leach when Cincy got killed by Oklahoma.I knew Oklahoma would tear Tech apart they're a damn good team at home, and just like Stoops said "I know Mike Leach's offense as well as he does".

Some of these posters are just confused.

Kelly isn't better than Leach,Kelly is at his peak right now so to see him leave at the end of the season is expected.

I gurantee that Cincinatti falls off next season similarly to Rutgers did this season.

Greg Schiano at one point was the hottest coach available and now he's been all but forgotten.

IT seems that FLorida's Spread is wayyy different than Tech's spread offense..
i love it how Florida uses there WR's as RB's.. hybrids..
I know that we can recruit some speed demons to run that kind of spread..

Florida uses a form or Spread Option, and Tech Uses the Balanced Pass Spread. The main form of Spread, in which you don't need a mobile quarterback.

Florida relies on every player having being a dangerous weapon on the field to confuse, and spread out the defense.

Tech uses is passing game to make the defense thing PASS DEFENSE, PASS DEFENSE, and it eventually opens up the run.

Another thread has stated that Jimmy Hyams said on the sports source that Leach was being interviewed today. Anybody know anything about this?

Cincy was still within 1 score late in the 3rd quarter, then his starting QB broke his leg, beginning their string of QB injuries throughout the year.

yeah, because clearly UF isn't going to be prepared or good at all against their own offense. it's not like their defense practices most of the year against that spread or that UF would know how to stop their own version of the spread......

also, it would take us about 3-5 years to get the players needed. by then, the new coach will either be gone or someone's going to have figured out how to stop the spread and everyone's going to be doing it

so we're clear........i don't want leach either, though the reasons seem to be way different......you don't want leach because he's smarter than you, and you wouldn't have any idea what he's talking about? you want some one around here to dumb it down for you?

that's sound.

two things........1. it was an OOC game, played in Norman with ahtletes on OK's side that man for man are just better than cincy's. 2. Brian Kelly has a team of "average" players, if you go by recruiting rankings anyway, 1 game away from a BCS game and a Big East Title.

i'm not going to slurp on Kelly too much, but i can say with 100% certainty that i'm much more impressed with what Brian Kelly has accomplished than what Mike Leach has accomplished.
