Mike Leach (Texas Tech)

I disagree.

Do you realize that prior to today OU was ranked 55th in the nation in total defense?
Do you realize that UT is 7th?

Do you realize that one reason we were ranked 7th is that we have faced powerhouse offenses like Northern Illinois, Wyoming, Auburn, etc.

Defensive rankings can't be evaluated in a vacuum...you must consider what kind of offenses your defense had faced. Granted, JM was close to correct when he said JC's defense had saved Phillip's job for the last 10 years, but we are not the 7th best defense in the country.

also Texas tech beat Texas on a last second, almost hail mary play. It wasn't like they came out and blew them out at all

It's so hard to quantify defenses though. Outside of Florida, who in the SEC has an offense that is even remotely close to half the teams in the Big XII?

It's hard to say how good the B12 offenses are when they aren't playing against SEC caliber defenses.

And what about the rest of UT's schedule? And what about the fact the defense managed that even though our offense put then in bad spots all year? Look at the whole picture or don't bother.

Quit being argumentative and be reasonable...we do NOT have the 7th best defense in the nation. JC has done a lot with a thin defensive front, a very slow middle linebacker (for an SEC team), and only one player who will certainly play professionally (Berry). I am looking at the big picture...we are not the 7th best defense in the country.

You best watch yourself when you start quoting statisitcs. "There are lies, damn lies, and statistics." Benjamin Disraeli

You're right. Your opinion is much more telling than these numbers.

Try and stay with me here. You were talking about prolific QBs and offenses against SEC defenses. Is that not a valid example?

relating last year's Hawaii squad with the top teams in the Big XII this year is beyond laughable. You are absurd

who?

LSU, USCe, Vandy, UK, UT and Auburn have all rotated qbs so often they can't even count. Casey Dick?

any of them are better then JPW.. his highest rated game was against UGA..

13/16 205yds. 81.3% 31long 1td 0int 209.50rating
5rush 13yards 2.6avg 0td.

i'd take Smelley(USC) over JPW.

Congratulations. You have surpassed ksush's peace oil idea and the Butch Davis is tanking games idea to win this week's stupidest idea of the week. You should be honored. You are VN's only 12 time recipient of this award.

Those numbers ranking defensive teams would be relevant ONLY if they were playing against the same offense. If you can't see that, you're way over your head in here.:birgits_giggle:

he is always over his head.

Sadly, JPW is the fourth highest rated qb in the SEC. Behind Tebow, Stafford and Ole Miss' qb.
