Well when Kelly is able to beat OU ONCE, Then He'll earn his place of being mentioned in a Mike Leach thread....September 6, 2008...Oklahoma 52 / Cincinnati 26......Case closed

Come on man. Leach has been at TTU for 9 yrs and this is the first year he has been a legitamate contender to win the Big 12. This is only Kelly's 2nd yr and he's already up for the Big East title. Give Kelly the talent that TTU has and then see otherwise this is makes no sense. I'm in no way saying Leach can't coach because i like him. Kelly played OU with a 3rd string QB also.
If your just talking about beating OU how bout Peterson? He beat OU. Would you say he's on the same level as Leach?

What I find funny is the fact that if Cincy can score 26 on OU then Texas Tech is going to just have a field day on that OU defense...No disrespect to Cincy's offense but man oh man, Kelly needs to learn that a defense is a wonderful thing

13 of those points in the first half were setup by ints by bradford on a short field. not to discredit the scores but.

2nd half CU didnt have their starting QB and OU jumped out with 21 points in the 3rd quarter alone.

CU has put up some good wins up but losing to UConn by so much.. I dont know maybe they gave up.:whistling:

Dear Lord. You're going to compare the Big East and the Big 12? Come on people.

Ok, now show me how Kelly is the better candidate...I know his Grand Valley st resume is outstanding but show me something that will change my mind about him...I do like him but I need more convincing...You know if He gets hired We lose Boyd...Are You ready to see Stephens running the spread?...Oh the horror

So they've only given up less than less than 20 to Nevada, UMASS and SMU? Color me impressed.

I bet Nick Stephens is a better quarterback than Tony Pike.

BREAKING NEWS OUT OF LUBBOCK!

(Lubbock, TX) Sources close to the Texas Tech Athletic Department said Wednesday that Mike Leach has been named as the replacement for Mike Leach when he inevitably leaves the program.

This news comes before the biggest game in the history of this year as the 10-0 Red Raiders get ready for a showdown with 9-1 Oklahoma in Norman Saturday.

"Well, we just want to make sure no stone is left unturned," Gerald Myers, Texas Tech Athletic Director said. "We all know Mike, and Mike is going to do what Mike is going to do. So we thought it best that he replaces himself at some point."

Speculation across the nation is that some top programs like Tennesssee, Washington, and Syracuse are all interested in the Texas Tech coach to come lead their program and not be too weird, an unnamed source said.

"Well, I'm just focused on us getting better each week and getting ready for OU," Leach said. "It's an honor to be named the head coach designate here, and I just saw in the news that a baby hippopotamus was born at a zoo in Switzerland. I was at a zoo in Switzerland this summer. You know the interesting deal about hippopotami and whales evolved from the same prehistoric animal. It's, uh, kind of a neat deal though that they just like to spend their days wallowing around in the mud, which doesn't make them much different than some other animal characters you'll find. Like a pig."

Dude...Seriously...Seeing Stephens in a spread option is like a nightmare come to life.....Seeing Boyd is a Leach offense is like whipped cream on top of fine coffee...It just goes together

I have absolutely no statistical data to back it up but, I'd be willing to bet UC has run a hell of a lot more plays from under center than TT has this season. Oh, and Boyd didn't want to play in a zone read spread offense, a la WVU. Don't know that he's averse to running a passing style spread offense. As far as I know, UC and TT are a lot more similar than UC and WVU.

How do you know we lose Boyd? Kelly doesn't run a true spread. He lines up in the eye formation too. Besides the point we shouldn't base our hire on 1 recruit. He also took over a Dantonio team who ran a pro style run first offense and installed his coast to coast offense and went 10-2 his first year with Dantonios players. I'm not trying to convince you he's a better candidate than Leach. Personally i think he would be better but that's me. You should make yourself more familier with his offense. Besides that if we get Leach there is a good chance we lose OKU. Do you want to risk that?

Ok I can accept that, I was actually looking to find out what coach Kelly calls it but didn't have any luck

Leach runs the spread. Just a different version. Everyone seems to think that if you run the spread it's auotmatically the spread option.
Kelly's version is called the Coast to Coast. That's what he calls it.

I'm an Aggie fan (I know we suck). I have been watching Leach for several years now and by far he is the best coach in the Big 12.

There is no reason that Tech should be good at all:

1.The Tech program is small. There are many articles that have come out over the past few years that even suggest that the program is struggling financially. There facilities are second to the worst in the Big 12 South.

2. They are in the middle of nowhere. They are 5 1/2 hours away from Dallas and that is the closest major city to Lubbock. They have a very difficult time recruiting. It may be the ugliest town in America.

3. They are in the Big 12 South with Oklahoma and Texas. They are both national power houses that get first pick of the recruits in Texas. Behind them A&M gets the next pick of the recruits. I know that they have owned A&M over the past few years, but who wants to go to Lubbock? A&M has a much easier time of recruiting being only an hour away from Houston and much deeper pockets. If you don't believe me on this then look at how there classes rank compared to others in the Big 12. They are probably behind OK State and are ahead of Baylor.

I can only imagine if he was able to go to a big time program and have a shot of getting some of the best recruits in the country. I find myself reading anything I can on the UT job because I'm obsessed with getting him out of the Big 12 South so Tech can fall to the bottom of the rankings where they belong. If UT is smart they will hire Mike Leach!
