Mike Leach (Texas Tech)

No way UT offered him this job before TT biggest game... it just wouldn't happen. TT needs to give permision as well - which they might do, but not while they are still in the hunt for a NC.

I have a question about Leach: If he comes to Tennessee, will he bring his spread offense with him? If so, I don't want him. He may win, but I love the run game too much to see it go. Up until recently, the run game has been Tennessee's bread and butter, and it just wouldn't feel like UT football without it.

So you dont like throwing the ball, scoring 30+ every game, and winning? Cool. Just so I know where you stand.

On the topic at hand, I still dont think he's leaving the dust bowl at tortilla U so, you have little to worry about until the end of his bowl game.

This cannot be a serious post, can it?

Of course a station in Austin leaked it. The Horns would like nothing better to distract Texas Tech with hopes that they lose a game over the distraction and ruin their National Championship run.

Pickens is an Okie State guy through and through.

He's not helping out Texas Tech.

All I can say is I know the man in Knoxville who is heading up a 300 million dollar solar powered project on the Cali/Nevada line and has met with Pickens to discuss alternative power. Pickens wants smaller universities to participate in his R&D so if he is buying land around Lubbock what other school would he use? There is little doubt that OSU will be utilized the most in this project given they are in the heartland of tornadoes aka dustbowls. Pickens is an OSU Alumni but his project that he is investing in is business and that comes first.

I've been saying the same thing. Whatever money Leach is offered, Texas Tech will match. He's not coming here, only working himself a nice pay raise.

I'm almost 100% sure I read something about TT not wanting to have to match offers from other schools because TT athletic department is hurting a bit from the economy.

I read somewhere that TT has bent themselves over a barrel because they did not offer Leach an extension last year. If I understand correctly, he has no buyout.

He has a buyout but it is not that bad ($500K).

I'm sure Tech's athletic budget has been affected by the economy but so has others. I think the 'powers-that-be' know that it would cost more to replace him than to pay him. It really depends on Coach Leach and what he wants out of life. We will counter but it will be up to him truthfully.

Did you notice the endowment of Texas Tech?...$641.6 million...Tennessee is 1 billion...Good golly miss molly

HC=head clown?

Not sure why you're adamantly against Leach. All he's ever done is create offense. He's not so dumb that he doesn't understand the need for defense. I don't really buy the recruiting argument, because recruiting to TT vs Texas is like recruiting Vandy vs Tennessee.
