Mike Leach (Texas Tech)

One problem so many of these Leach supporters has is this false belief that "UT recruits itself" no matter who the coach is. That even though Leach is not a good recruiter, at UT recruits will just fall in his lap. We all know how poor of a teacher Fulmer is as a coach but most of you dont give his recruiting impact enough credit. Recruits will not just fall into Leach's lap because we are UT. National recruiting at UT is a very involved, time consuming, and difficult task.

Leach is not making it known where he wants to coach next year. Unless he is making "coach speak" and is saying that Texas Tech is where he wants to coach next year.

Perhaps your right, but since Leach can do more with less then you may breakeven with Fulmer. That's worst case but I believe that even if he's not as good a recruiter that he will still have better recruits than he has at Tech and with a little success and the excitement of his offense the recruiting will take care of itself.

Opps my bad.

Why do you think he would have better recruits at UT than at TT just because we are Tennessee? In case you forgot, Texas is one of the best states for high school football players. He can take 2nd tier players from there and still field a very talented team. The problem is that he can't even get 2nd tier players for the most part. He does not go out and recruit. He mails out offers and takes commitments rather than putting forth the effort it takes. At best, he breaks even with what CPF has done over the past 5 years.

I like your style.. exactly how I feel. Most schools have went to the MWC or Big EAst to get a coach. Getting the coach of the #2 team in the nation out of the big 12 is nice. I want Gruden or Davis but Leach is by far the next realistic thing. Kiffin #4 and last resort.

Listen people, if TT beats OU this weekend, you have to buy in and Hamiliton has to hire him. It would be like Frank Beamer going to Georgia in 2000 or Stoops going to LSU in 03. Hypothetical, but my point is that NC caliber coaches are usually made in the SEC. Hardly ever are they already there when they get here.

Thanks, I like your avatar. Got to catch Phil Lesh a couple of years ago at Roo. Wish I'd been able to catch the Dead. I've got a couple of their DVD's & it looked to be an excellent time, lol.

Just for giggles, lets say you are Mike Leach. What would you do as a head coach to bring in 4/5* players to come play football in Lubbock, Tx. Now when you talk to these 4/5* players, they have choices to go to UT(Texas), A/M, OK, USC, Florida, Alabama, etc.? What would be your selling point to get these kids to turn down these big programs to come to Tech?

Umm, how about he sells himself and the rest of the coaching staff to the recruits. When Saban took over at Alabama and the recruiting took off in his first year was he not recruiting players to the same school that Shula was? So what was the difference? The coach was selling them on himself as coach. And we aret talking about 5-stars uber elite players. Leach has gotten very few 4-star players that he didnt have to compete against OU, Texas, TAMU, LSU for.

He definitely does not look like he wants to be on the show, showing no emotion, and can barely keep his eyes open.

he says "uh" more than Barry Obama.

alright, Rome jsut asked if he'd leave for another program. Leach said, "I haven't really thought about it. I'm just focusing on Oklahoma."

that means he doesn't want to say "no" yet.

Another thing to ponder is that he has no where near the budget to recruit @ Texas Tech than he will have if he comes here...That alone means a lot as well...You are correct that he does not have to go out of the state and mainley it is because he does not have the money allowed by the school to let him go to these other states

He said "uh" literally about every other word.

Was it me, or did Leach just look out of it during that interview?

Stewart Mandel's Three Point Stance in Sports Illustrated said we should go after Leach......just read it.

Still, I think this thing may already be done.

leach may be the mad scientist but i dont know if he would be a good fit for tn. i saw him on rome is burning, and he seems like the rainman of college football, let him keep his pirate ships and stay at texas tech, could you see the "leach show" after a ut game, it would be brutal!!! no to leach!!!! but what do i know....he also looks like the kind of guy after a game to go home take somes ludes, smoke some weed , and drink a bottle of jack(that may not be bad for some recruits)
