Mike Leach (Texas Tech)

If Vince can score 50+ points per game - i'm right there with you.

However, we need to instead focus on his hobbies, dress habits, and other items of his personality - maybe we don't want Vince running our team, even if we could put up those offensive numbers. Heck, Vince Gil doesn't dress a thing like Bill Monroe, so maybe we shouldn't let him represent our state as a member of the Opry?!
While you guys are looking into his personal traits, can someone rustle me up some other pictures?
I'd like one of Coach Fulmer clapping his hands on the sideline. Or saying "dadgummit". Or one of the scoreboard from the UCLA game.

Or Florida.

Or Auburn.

Or Georgia.

Or Alabama.

Or South Carolina.

Or Wyoming.

If not too much trouble, could you also get me a couple of shots of the upper deck at all of the home games this season, too? Better make sure that it was before halftime, or it'll just be shots of empty seats. Don't get the lower section - I don't want to see all of that crimson and white.

Lastly, could you rustle me up a picture of Coach Fulmer sitting at that desk, being forced to resign?

Poster size, preferably.

I want to frame it with the title, "Status Quo".

Thanks in advance!

As much of a gimmick as his offense may be, I do have to admit that it'd help. Looking at the opponents above, we have 3 more wins if we can score simply 1 more TD per game...and a 4th if we add a second vs Georgia. 7-3 sounds much better than 3-7 right now.

I'm confused about the compliants of Leach's W-L record, so who is it(on MH'S list) that is having all these 9,10, and 11 win seasons?

well this year was just icing on the cake. Most people wanted Fulmer gone because of how consistently he lost 3 or so games. Up until this point a 3 loss season was Mike Leach's golden season.

Bill, while I disagree with you, I think you may be on to something here. I think most people wanted Fulmer gone because they think he underachieved with the talent he had whereas they think Leach vastly overachieves with the talent he has at TT.

What many are saying is that if Leach had access to the recruiting budgets, facilities, tradition, conference, etc. that Tennessee has....he may be able to do some pretty amazing things.

No one knows for sure and we're all just blowing air until we have someone named. I feel like a kid at Christmas after this season regardless of who it is! :good!:

His only 10-win season EVER is the current one. Try 7, 8, and 9-win seasons with 3-5 losses every year or an average season winning % of 64.

Fulmer has more 10-win season this decade and he's leaving. You don't fire Fulmer to hire Leach. It doesn't make sense.

So you're saying Meyer, Saban, Stoops or Carroll?

Help me understand what you're saying other than you don't like Leach because he hasn't dominated the Big 12 every year. Who is your guy outside of Gruden & Davis? Oh, and why is he your guy....& don't you dare answer Hat!

She doesn't work....must be nice.

I'm still woefully hoping for Gruden or BD....but I like that weirdo in Texas. Seems to have been successful everywhere he's been....so why not give him a shot if the other two say no.

Cowher would be another outside hopeful I'd put above him.

I like your style.. exactly how I feel. Most schools have went to the MWC or Big EAst to get a coach. Getting the coach of the #2 team in the nation out of the big 12 is nice. I want Gruden or Davis but Leach is by far the next realistic thing. Kiffin #4 and last resort.

Listen people, if TT beats OU this weekend, you have to buy in and Hamiliton has to hire him. It would be like Frank Beamer going to Georgia in 2000 or Stoops going to LSU in 03. Hypothetical, but my point is that NC caliber coaches are usually made in the SEC. Hardly ever are they already there when they get here.

even if we had general neyland cryogenically unfrozen* negavols would be there the day he thaws to criticize him for taking so long.

i guess my point is dont be too disappointed when the 2nd coming of Mike Hamilton's Gen. Neyland doesnt resurrect our Vols over night (3 years)

*shhh*

yep, that is the argument for leach. and it may be true. especially if he has the right support staff. also, he does seem to do a good job in player development.

however i think the best predictor of the ability to win SECCs is winning championships at another level. if leach had a couple of big 12 titles already and evidence of recruiting prowess he'd be a lot stronger candidate for UT.

The price is going UP UP UP and our chances are going down the longer we wait.....:pirate:

OMG... we have a pirate smilie. Please tell me that's not a new one especially since the sarcasm smilie has been on back order for so long.:eek:hmy:

If that's going to be the criteria, why not go ahead and hire Chris Petersen?

Volquest is reporting that Leach would prefer the Washington job.

why would he make such a lateral move? Is he afraid of the big boys in the Big XII?

If that's the case, please please please let him go to to UDub.

Of course, it could just be that he would be much closer to the sea. Arggh

There's probably good reason that all these guys have other preferences.

Namely, I'm not so sure we have an opening.

about football? not a chance.

Not a chance he knows more about football or the coaching slot? :)

Just inferring maybe that we aren't going after him as hard as we would if he was at the top of our list which MAY mean there is a different dance going on behind the curtains.

Bingo... and that reassures me that Hamilton knows what he is doing!

Just think how Fulmer would do at Tech. Leach's winning percentage is 67% , I don't know way you wouldn't count this season. You still didn't answer the original question of who on MH's list has a better winning percentage or has 10, 11 win seasons.

If leach can make $3 mil in a patsy conference like the Pac 10, where winning 8 games makes you a hero, why would he take the high pressure UT job in the toughest conference in america, for the same salary?
