Mike Leach (Texas Tech)

When people say leach isn't the right fit is it his personality quirks or his coaching acumen? I could care less if he parked a pirate boat by Calhouns or showed up in a Hawiian shirt as long as we score. We can get someone else to worry about the defense.

Totally agree. It's funny ... everybody says Leach isn't the "right fit," yet they want something totally different from what they had before. :crazy:

I'm with you. I'm all for Butch Davis or Gruden first. But after that I think it would be a heck of an offensive show in Neyland if Leach were named HC.

Apparently this whole "right fit" thing didn't apply to Bruce Pearl...so?????

They have a tradition of goold old boys that want coaches to cater to them and do what they say. Tradition they have. Tech has a tradition of Leaving leach alone. Leach is creating his own Tradition and building his own program.

I think this is the most compelling reason he might not want to come to UT.

given that he won't have a job if he heads this direction, I think the unemployment thing might be a more fitting reason.

yeah, he's basically gone from minimum wage as a Cal Tech Poly assistant to having major programs throwing millions of dollars at him to lure him away

a sure sign of his coaching incompetence and inability to hold down a job

Who would've thought a one time former OC at Kentucky who became a thorn in Chavis side and matched Cut in many ways is now near the top as being our HC.

After reading that article I'll take it one more step, what "IF" Leach had become Florida's HC instead of Myer? :eek:

If Leach became Florida's HC instead of Meyer, UT would have beaten Florida in 2006. Additionally, Florida wouldn't have a national or sec championship and they wouldn't get either this year.

Could have, would have, might have.

But didn't.

So you're not a Leach fan.

What Florida has done with Meyer is simply take over the SEC, and become a near-annual presence in the National Championship hunt.

There's another Meyer out there. I don't care how he spells his last name. We need to find him.

Go Vols.

I was a gruden then davis supporter myself and would shart in my pants if that happens. But Leach would truely be an awesome hire. Remember the days when we were capable of waxing almost anyone any given year. Some teams would not come close to stopping it for 3 or 4 years.

Leach's offense reminds me of a very creative Cutcliff offense. Tajh Boyd, B Warren, OKU, Stokes, & Marlon Brown would be the best in the nation. Oku is a perfect back for the system. Throwing the ball to Oku in open space with MB/Stokes running deep routes would be unstoppable. The deep ball and going over the middle with those studs would be exciting to watch. Watch Oku, he doesn't need blockers anyway. They have owned the #1 offense in nation several times. Imagine that, UT has the #1 offense in nation.

I can't say i would want Mike Leach hes been at Tech for awhile and i have to say to hire him after one really good year would be bad. I like TCU's coach always has a strong D and thats what you need in the sec and i know our d isnt really the problem i would just like him as our coach

I too would want Gruden first, but after him Leach. After watching this eye-gougingly bad offense for a few years, give me a little entertainment, ba-bee! Let's wing it, ba-bee! Even with Cut we struggled to move the ball for long stretches.

Of the most realistic candidates frequently discussed, I would be:

"Happy" with Leach, Davis, Kiffin, Kelly.....
"Satisfied" with Patterson, Peterson....
"Disappointed" with Muschamp, Brewster....
"Pull My Tickets Pissed" with Cutcliff, Chavis....

That's how I feel. Although Leach is my clear frontrunner that is feasible.

Based upon his national exposure this year, offensive players will be knocking his door down to play in this system. Doing it on national TV every week in the SEC will only make it that much easier to attract them.

No more relying on 2 and 3 star recruits for Leach if he is here, and he knows it.

Leach will be able to compete with Texas, aTm, and OU for Texas. Why come to Tennessee when he can recruit 4 and 5 star players without even leaving his state?

am i the only one who wouldn't be pumped about leach?

anyone of sane mind wouldn't have Leach as their frontrunner. I've defended Hamilton since he got his promotion, but he'd deserve an immediate ticket out of knoxville if he hired Leach before making absolute sure we couldn't get Kiffin, Davis, Patterson, Gruden, Cowher, Kelly, Brewster, Sarkisian, Muschamp, Venables or a host of other names.

Kiffin=maybe

Gruden=yes, but he's not coming

Davis=no

Patterson=no

Cowher=yes, but he's not coming

Brewster=HECK NO!

Sarkisian=yes

Muschamp=no

Vernables=no

Leach is a way better hire than any of these guys except for Gruden,Cowher, and maybe Kiffin.You've got to be out of your mind if you would take any of those guys over Leach.:wacko:

How you going to feel Saturday night if TT beats OU or puts up 40 on them?

1 season doesn't mean anything. The body of overall work does.

Funny how everyone wanted Fulmer fired for 3 and 4 loss seasons. Funny how is everyone is forgetting all of Leach's 4, 5 and 6 loss seasons he's had up to this point. That 9-3 year with a trip to the Cotton Bowl was just magical.

Have you realized that before this season, Texas Tech
had one of the worst defenses out there.Thats why they're undefeated because of Ruffin Mcneal their new DC.Tech had a great offense all along they just had a terrible defense to with it.

I just seen on ESPN where kiffin interviewed for the Clemson job last week, i just wonder if he told them "let me see if i can get the UT job 1st"...
