It's difficult to rank higher than #1, but some might argue the USC recruiting machine was #1 all-time. That about 40-something teams higher than your man Leach (see HV's post above on Leach's recruiting as that harder data to find).

Now, what's your favorite part about Kiffin's bio? Can you see why Oakland hired him instead of plucking Leach from his extraordinary turnaround success (your view, not mine) at TTech?

I personally wouldn't factor any decision made by Al Davis in the last 5 years into any decision I am now trying to make. But that's just me.

Other than that, carry on folks. This is good entertainment and I am learning a lot I didn't know.

i've gone to all the links and read all the info posted.. but still haven't seen anything that proves Kiffin is the master recruiter.. especially since USC is still getting #1 classes. I'm just saying don't hire a coach because he's at a powerhouse program that someone else built.

Proven fact that Al Davis is a whack..

I dont' hold it against him. however i do not put Kiffin in any higher regard simply because he held the position. If people aren't going to hold Davis firing him against him then why are people giving him credit for being an NFL HC since Davis also hired him.

Take your time. Think about when USC became dominant in recruiting; consider who was there; think about who was put in charge of recruiting; think about who did well with that assignment and other coaching responsibilities; then consider why he was hired as the youngest head coach in the NFL.

Davis is considered a whack by some, but it's not for hiring Kiffin. It's for firing him, among other indicators.

This Leach junk is BS, he has already been in the SEC. How'd that work out for him under Mumme? His schemes will not work in the SEC nearly as well as they do at TTU because defenses are too fast.

If anything, I was saying your son just might be good enough for Kiffin to come calling. I have no idea whether you have a son or whether he plays football or not.

My point was about Kiffin and his recruiting abilities and your failure to acknowledge them. That's all.

If I offended you or your son (if you have one), of course, I apologize.

Most importantly, if by chance your name is Giles and not Smith, please send your son to UT. We will take care of him and enjoy watching him play football for the Vols!:)

Urban hadn't used his schemes in the SEC. Leach has and it wasn't nearly as awe-inspiring as it is this year. He also has been mediocre at TTU other than this year.
