While we still don't know if Leach will accept the offer, this Mike Leach quote on pirates is surprisingly applicable to our current situation.

From: Knox News

“Pirates function as a team. There were a lot of castes and classes in England at the time. But with pirates, it didn't matter if you were black, white, rich or poor. The object was to get a treasure. If the captain did a bad job, you could just overthrow him."

From Mike Leach's perspective, Vol Nation just proved itself to be a bunch of pirates who have overthrown their captain because he couldn't get them their treasure. While other coaches may be somewhat fearful of this "fan revolt" and the current situation at Tennessee, Mike Leach is actually one of the few coaches who may totally understand it. Why wouldn't you overthrow a bad pirate captain? Leach understands that winning the job is more than scribbling your name on a contract; you actually have to win over the other pirates.

Holy ****. I've read this quote of his countless times, and I never considered how it could relate to the turmoil within your fanbase, especially with Sunday's protests in mind.

This is a fantastic observation and, if true, would make me respect Leach even more. I can't wait to see how he interacts with Saban.

I dont think Leach will have much of a chance against the likes of Georgia and Alabama. I dont even know if he can beat Florida. But we should be able to begin beating SC, UK, Mizzou and Vandy right?

So you're saying it'll be like the Fulmer days...Minus the miracle 98 season

If Leach gets a QB who understands his madness...watch out! I will be nervous as a Florida Gator during the 3rd or 4th week in September.

WSU offense is ranked 32

UT is 82

WSU defense is ranked 15

UT is 123

I think we'll be ok

I actually think both Dormady and McBride fit really well into Leach's scheme. But probably looking through orange tinted glasses a little bit.

You obviously don't know him and you underestimate him a lot; that's ok because if the other SEC coaches underestimate him they'll be on the L side of the column.

Very interesting observation.

So you think he is just going to come in here and light the SEC up? If so, why?

Because he's an offensive genius. Watch the 60 minutes video. I know it not from that but from how his teams performed at Texas Tech. Yeah, it was only 1 throw with 8 seconds left when they beat #1 ranked Texas, but it was a W against the #1 ranked team in the nation at the time from lowly Texas Tech.

We shall see. Just remember, the PAC 12 isnt the SEC. Remember the last time the best PAC 12 team played the best SEC team?

Yea, Bama was able to win a hard fought match against Washington in the playoffs last year. Washington took a 7-0 lead, Bama had 2 huge plays, a pick 6 before the half to go up 17-7 and a 70 yd TD run in the 4th. Washington’s defense held them in check most of the game. Not sure how many defenses held Bama’s O to 17 last year, or how many offenses scored TDs on them
