I don't hate Bob K like some. But I wish we had Mike Keith calling the Vols.

And before all the "He makes a ton of $ from the Titans". I know that. But still wish we had him.

He is so annoying. I can't stand to listen to him. Something about his voice that drives me crazy. Of course I grew up with Keith Jackson on ABC and Ward calling the Vols on radio. The Lost Art of broadcasting.

I would like Bob a little more if he was just more biased like Ward was. :dunno:

Mike would be great though! :salute:

The man is an encyclopedia of facts! He is killing it on the interviews with coaches and former players.

When Ward made the calls, I turned down the TV and listened to the Vol Network. And if I was driving, I would listen in the parking lot, unless I could be somewhere with a TV.

When Kesling took over, I tried to listen, but am yet to hear an entire broadcast. I Have been told by many of his associates Kesling is very professional, but I found him boring when he was on TV, and felt he would bore me more on radio. Not sure how many times I have tried to listen, maybe once a year for the first few years, and I gave up listening at all 3 years ago.

The old radio I used for the Ward days was sold in a yard sale a few years ago. And if I am driving somewhere, I turn on the radio long enough to get the score, and try to find a sports bar if I can make the time.

So, I am one who finds Mike Keith a most desirable replacement. Like Ward, Keith does stir your blood a little when you catch his Titans broadcasts, and I am not a Titans fan.

They are playing some Bob K. calls during the lulls in the War Room broadcasts. Can't help but think how unexciting his big play calls are. John Ward gave me goosebumps. Sorry Bob, I know you are a VFL at heart. I turn down the TV when the games are on and call the game myself. ;')

I had to listen to Bob on the radio this past Halloween night as I was walking the neighborhood with my daughter. I was struggling to get an accurate picture of what was happening by just haring the broadcast. It was extremely frustrating.

Everyone else has biased callers, and it's the damn VOL Radio Network.

I agree wholehearedly. The best calls from local radio folks are the ones where the guys get fired up for their own team.

John Ward went out of his way to appear unbiased...exact opposite of Larry Munson.

Keith Jackson was overrated imo

Ditto. To each his own, but Keith's high pitched squeal kills me.

Radio has changed for me. I don't need anyone to "paint a picture" (which Ward was great at). For me, they just have to be better than Verne (which Bob is). I rarely just do radio, 99.9% of the time it's paired with the TV.

If it's Nessler/Blackledge I'll listen, but they're about it.

Ward was not great to pair with TV. He's saying "they're at the 20,19,18" while the guy has actually already handed the ref the ball in the end zone.

I'm fine with Bob because I can see what's happening. I like Priest's color commentary as well. Andy Kelly is the weak link to me. He sounds like he shouldn't be on the radio.

There are quite a few play by play guys that do both college on Saturday and pro on Sunday.
Including Fla State/Bucs, Univ of California/49ers just to name two.
