Can't blame the Pearl situation on Hamilton completely. Curious what would've been the outcome had we had Hart then

Not sure about Hart but if Dickey had still been the AD, it never would have come to that. In the first place, Pearl would not have lied to the NCAA because of Dickey's influence and second, Dickey would have been so involved in this investigation, he would have known everything the NCAA was going to ask Bruce and led him through.

This is all true. However, had Dickey been AD we would have had a buster for a bball coach and not Pearl because Dickey didn't care about hoops.

I could be mistaken on this but I think Dickey reached out to Bill Self and Roy Williams to gauge their interest in the Tennessee job.

Ernie Grunfeld made that hire. He brought Pearl to UT on a silver platter and any AD would have hired him. It took Hamilton a few years to mess this one up.

To be fair he hired Bruce. Which made us relative again.

Outside of East Tennessee when Bruce is thought of during his tenure at UT it's more about what he did wrong that cost him his job, not UT's march to an elite 8. We all know what Bruce did to make UT relative, he just got caught. Some do, many others don't.

Hamilton was nothing more than a yes man for Cheek. It's my understanding he fought for Pearl and Cheek wouldn't have it. Hence the $1 million severance package for Hamilton.

The reason for a lot of the problems we've experienced over the last few years is because the AD was removed from the president of the University and placed under the UTK chancellor. I think this was a huge mistake.

And he also left Bruce out to dry when he could have helped him before he interviewed with the NCAA which might have prevented the entire mess from ever happening. Most people don't know the entire story. Hamilton was the worst AD in UT history

Short mans complex. What have you done for me lately.
