Mike Hamilton worst AD in NCAA?

The argument that Hamilton is at the root of this evil is simply wrong.
agreed. but he could go down with the ship in the aftermath if this gets as bad as it could get. that contract he allowed for Fulmer is going to look really stupid if we finish 8-4 wiht losses to UCLA, FL, Bama, GA........we lose to all our rivals, and a horrible team, and he gets a raise and extenstion.

thanks Mike.

there will be plenty of people that would raise an eyebrow at that.....i don't think anyone envisions paying $3 mill a year for that.

really, at this point, it might be best for us to go 7-5. it would at least allow Hamilton the ability to say "well, he didn't get to 8, so no raise, no extension as per the contract", but at the same time, keep him on the payroll, after all, he did notch another winning season and bowl game check.

how bad can it be really?

Keep in mind that Mike Hamilton is running a business. As long as a profit is made he will have a job.

I just feel that the money, the contract, is immaterial.
If this change from anger to apathy rises even twenty percent Fulmer is done. Wins/losses will affect the apathy level of course, so your 8-4 scenario is probably a hazard zone for pulling the trigger. I don't think it matters though. 8-4 is a pipe dream...

but Mike Hamilton's gig is to some degree about future vision. He can't see the profit continuing to go where he wants if the current course continues.

Hey Hambone hired Bruce Pearl :whistling:

Ernie G: Hey Mike, there is this guy coaching up here in Milwaukee. I think he would be a great fit for UT. He knows how to build a program.

Hambone: OK you know more about Basketball than me Ernie. I'll hire him.

maybe, but too many people are aware of it. fans, media or otherwise, everyone raised the question "is 8 wins now the standard at TN?".

in fact, just this morning, the local show in Charlotte read off CPF's record against Spurrier, Saban, Richt, Meyer........and followed that with the blurb about the 8 win clause in the new contract. and there was some disbelief in their response, which was to ask that same question above.

so, i think the contract and/or money, while may not be the direct link to his potential downfall, i do think that it plays a more significant role in developing that apathy than you might think.

and as long as we lose, and Fulmer is at the helm and Hamilton is just fine wiht raises and extensions for 8 wins........it will make for a very apathetic fan base.

after all, what this really means is there is absolutely no real reason for anything to change. Sure, the mantra will always be to get back to the c'ship. CPF will always want to. i for too long believed this to be enough. eventually, there has to be results. and the standard that's been set allows for an apathetic response when it's attained.

just really frustrated. hell, we'll beat Auburn this weekend i'm sure.....and there'll be a big fat "i told you so" coming to us in some way shape or form.:banghead2:

You won't have to worry about that coming true.

Tell that to Steve Pederson. He was running a profitable program at Nebraska. How'd that turn out for him?

exactly. they've made their bed, now they're going to have to lie in it.

Just one loss below that 8 win clause lies, 'you're done'...

In that sense, 8 wins could actually be looked at as the low bar and not the the high...

i just don't believe that. all i think that does is, politically, give MH the ability to honor the contract and say "it worked" more or less.

7-5 gets a bowl check. another winning record. and another reason not to do anything.

8-4 makes him look like a dolt for allowing a contract that does what 8 wins does.

can you imagine a scenario where a game like the KY, Vandy or SC games last year could be the difference between a raise and extension or..... not? does he or does he not make the fg? putting that decision on foot of the SC, KY or Vandy kicker.....

:clapping:

MH went on record......anything less than 8 wins....no raise ...no extension! BTW this contract and the Fulmer 95% comment have been the joke of the SEC the last few days. Other stations around the SEC have been getting a lot of mileage out of it.

what is the 'fulmer 95%' comment? i missed that.....but agree, this contract thing has found it's way out in to the media, and they have, from what i've witnessed so far, had a 'WTF' reaction to it......

He stated 95% of those sitting in the stands have never played sports.

i don't necessarily like Hamilton as an AD, but there are far worse out there. Hamilton has actually done some decent things, though none of it is showing up on the football field.

What happens if it's 7-5 this year, no coaching change, and 8-4 next year? Then, the extension is just delayed by one year.
