Mike Hamilton was wrong about EE rule

Or maybe whoever wrote that is wrong.

TideWarrior posted this in the recruiting forum. I don't know if it really proves anything though.

"It looks as if what M Hamilton said regarding any player that was on campus as of 12:01 am is correct per the NCAA. Probably what CEO was telling them is not only avoid class but get off campus. But according to this rule the student does not have to show for class just be on campus the day classes start. So that would indicate that any player on campus as of this morning that tried to transfer would have to sit out a year unless the NCAA gave them an exception.

14.5.2 Conditions Affecting Transfer Status. A transfer student is an individual who transfers from a
collegiate institution after having met any one of the following conditions at that institution:
(a) The student was officially registered and enrolled in a minimum, full-time program of studies in any quarter
or semester of an academic year, as certified by the registrar or admissions office, provided the student was
present at the institution on the opening day of classes;

Orgeron knew the rule when he called recruits and told them not to go to class.

If they are not in class than how do you prove they were on the campus? Sounds like a whole bunch of nothing and they won't have to set out a year.

Yeah, I was eating a donut at Krispy Cream. Later I hung out at a convenience store until 7 am and then I went to McDonalds. I had to pick up some 'overnight stuff I left in the dorm room that Tenn provided for my visit but after that I left campus.

Simple: when you're at UT you check into the dorm and to know that you were off campus for good, you must check out of the dorm and have your room inspected.
Just because someone is off campus doesn't mean anything if they are still checked into their dorm room. So therefore the link between student and school still exists.

As a UT student, you have to set your attendance confirmation as "Yes" on the part of UT's website where you register for classes. I'd be willing to bet that switching their status back to "No" before 12:01 last night was the only way to change their standing with the registrar's office.

Using our programs cellphones!

I suspect that's the only reason this was admitted to. Kiffin had to know about those calls but denied it in his USC press conference. Orgeron would not have made 20 plus calls on his own. He screwed up and used a UTAD phone and so UT could easily prove that calls were made by pulling the records.

A spokeswoman from the NCAA said that if a student is enrolled as a full time classes, and is on campus the first day of classes, then they are obligated to their commitment. Our EEs aren't going anywhere
