Mike Hamilton quote

I've heard on three different radio stations that Clawson wanted to give Stephens a try after UCLA but Fulmer shot that down.

That video was posted shortly before the Mississippi State game. I'm sure Fulmer is starting to get more involved in the offense at this point. However, we have no way of knowing when exactly Fulmer started to intervene. One thing we do know is that Clawson was allowed to completely revamp our offensive line scheme and their play has been horrible. Additionally, we have opposing players telling us that they are able to tell what play we are running before we run it based solely on Clawson's OL alignments.

Before he ever got here. See Randy Sanders. Clawson ever said it in the video. "We have had a lot of X's and O's discussions since I arrived here." Why have those discussions?? Why not let him coach?? That's an easy answer.

As far as the whole blocking scheme goes, if a player can't adapt then that falls on coaching. From Fulmer, to Clawson to Adkins they are all responsible. Also, if a player isn't coachable enough to learn the system I think that says alot about the players as well.

I have a feeling what Hamilton said about the "body of work" sets the stage for another year for Coach Fulmer.

Where has it been "known" that Clawson/Fulmer are merging their offenses? And when has it been proven that Clawson doesn't have full control?

ALl you have to do is look at the frustration on Clawson's face that is not one caused by losing but misery of the situation he is in and then go look at film of his offense we have not seen his offense yet Fulmer is meddling and must go go now go quickly.

Yeah, head coaches never talk to brand new assistants about what kind of scheme they're going to run.

The look on Clawson's face during the UCLA game was more than likely caused by him realizing how out of his league he really is.

I'd say the OL alignment telegraphing the upcoming play has a lot to do with the players' shortcomings. Additionally, Fulmer allowing Clawson to have that much say in how his OL plays is a pretty strong indication that Fulmer gave him a lot of liberties with the offense.

Probably so the HC has a clue of what's going on since his butt is on the line.

I really hope the "body of work" comment was just Mike trying to be politicly correct and not hint at anything. If he is serious about it then here is my response.
Phil is 7-20 against Auburn, LSU, Florida, and Georgia since 2000
Phil has lost the last 3/4 to Bama.
Players are laughing on the sideline while we are getting beat down by bama.
We are 1-9 against top 10 teams since 2000.
We have a losing record against ranked teams since 2000.

How is that for a "body of work" thats terrible. What emotional wins and losses. If we aren't playing a cushy team like vandy or keuntucky then we have a 75 percent chance of losing the game.

Clawson has stunk it up from a statistical and wins standpoint since he has been here at UT, but just because of that doesn't mean you can just throw him under the bus when the ENTIRE staff seems to have just as many problems on offense. Adkins SUCKS as a O-Line coach and we have steadily become a WORSE football team running the ball since he came aboard. Drayton is Trooper Taylor without the ego and chestbumps. Scott is in the same boat as Drayton is. Michaels just isn't that great of a coach. So while Clawson gets some of the blame to, don't lay it all at his door step. Also, don't forget about Fulmer's system as well.

Please explain what you mean by this. I have seen many posts on this board that criticize the coaching capabilities of Trooper Taylor and the only supporting evidence given is that he has an expressive social style. Most of the rest of your post makes points that have been substantiated by solid analysis by others or "experts".

So why is Trooper Taylor a weak coach to you (I am assuming that is what you are implying)?

Yes they did. Since Stallings (13 seasons) they have had 5 head coaches.

I'm glad you set your standards so high.
Your point being what? I'am confused, what the h--ll are you talking about. News flash, unless you just like being punched in the gut repeatedly, our last ten years haven't been great either. How bad can it be we're 3-5 now, 5-6 a couple of years ago. Sandwiched by a couple of forgettable seasons. Man the pitch that we might go through a coaching carousel just doesn't hold merit anymore.

You made a statement. I pointed out that it took 11 seasons and 5 coaches to apparently get it right after running Stallings off. You think a coaching carousel doesn't have merit........I do.

clean house starting with Hamilton on down and make Haslam the AD. He is sucssful in business maybe he can find the right coach and turn things around.

Pretty sure Haslam was a huge proponent of giving Buzz Peterson a contract extension.

Well, the coach that succeeded Stallings was by force, not choice. Franchione left on his own, so there's another forced hire. The fact that Bama replaced coaches that didn't live up to their expectations should tell you they indeed set their standards high.

Now, we should learn a lesson from Bama, and understand we don't have to think inbred when we hire, and that it's okay to look outside the family for a coach. Once Bama learned that, they hit a home run. Saban and Bama will absolutely OWN our asses for many years to come unless we make a change.

Should we continue with the same coach that has ran us into the ground, so much so that the coach that takes over for him will have a far tougher job than Fulmer inherited/stole? Or should we set our standards a tad higher than no SEC championships in 10 years, and being blown out by your rivals, and also being a punchline on Gameday?

I'm sure that Texas A&M and Nebraska felt the same way. How are they doing now? BTW, Bama went out of the family several coaches ago with Franchione.

I'm not saying it shouldn't be done. Just don't expect a hc change to automaticly give us a contending team. Sometimes you really need to be careful with what you wish for.
