Mike Hamilton needs a raise???

We won't have to worry about Hamilton,...after our football program burns down in 4 yrs. Hamilton and Kitten will both be gone. Then we can try and get it back together,...gonna be tough though. I'm gonna hate for us to be like UGA after Dooley left, the next decade is gonna suck.

I'm sure that every decade in your life has sucked with your "glass half empty" attitude; however the vast majority of intelligent Vol fans are excitedly optimistic about our next few seasons.

What exactly has he done to deserve one? I give him credit for hiring Pearl, and keeping him around, but what else has he done?

He fired the best baseball coach UT ever had, and we've gone from being average to being a laughingstock.

Since men's basketball is more important than baseball, that leaves him slightly ahead. If Kiffin works out, he deserves a raise. If not, he should be where Rod Delmonico and Phil Fulmer are.

I completely agree. In addition, the way he handled CPF with the raise and then the BS that followed has erased any goodwill with me. That bad decision limited options in the search to replace CPF. CLK may workout but that does not excuse the limited options.

A raise? For what?? Isn't he doing his job by hiring big time coaches? He gets paid a top salary to do that.

apples to oranges.

CLK loyalty aside, MH giving fulmer a raise was a huge blunder and limited UT's options in the coaching search. Moreover, MH's decision to give fulmer an office w/staff along side the current regime is not healthy.

I agree... let's wait and see some titles come rolling in... i am all for Kiffin and I still think Pearl is great for TN... but still Kiffin hasn't proven anything yet on the field, and Pearl hasn't brought home a SEC on NCAA trophy yet, he has won regular season stuff.

But still... Let's get some more bling for the trophy case before we bling our AD

I think the point was he has raised revenues for the program from 19 to over 42 million dollars (Dr. Evil Laughs here). Its all about the money.

Hamilton's main job is to increase revenue for the Athletic Department. He has done exceedingly well.

He deserves nothing. He better hope kiffin works out or he can start dusting off that resume. We're now a rebuilding program thanks to him and the other goobers up there.

If we hired Pete Carroll you could say the same thing...do you have a point? It's a mistake to hire the best coaching staff in the nation for a relatively cheap price?

I'm pretty sure midfielder was kidding there VKA...

What about giving Fulmer that ridiculous extension after 2007?

I was working a sports media internship that summer. As weird as that seemed to us, it made some sense: Fulmer's contract was around 9th in the SEC in amount...he was making less than Rich Brooks at UK (who really had only had two 8-5 seasons and that's it). The raise put him at about 6th or 7th - around the same level as Auburn's HC.

The raise was all about placement among conference coaches....that was really about it and pretty much the driving force/reason behind it.

Raises should be given only for superior performance. Hamilton has done his job, that's all. No raise is justified. He already makes more than he's worth.

You seem bitter.

It is interesting to see that you have come to this conclusion. I am sure that you have evaluated his performance across the board, and investigated the salaries of ADs at similar sized schools across the country.

Fortunately for the Athletic Department and University of Tennessee sports in general, the people who matter have arrived at a different decision than you.
