I agree. They moved my parking pass to that damn garage and it took an hour and a half to get to the street. I have my old C-lot pass back now even though it cost more, it's worth it.

To get more fans out to the games, how about shots of Jack Daniels whenever UT scores a TD of more than 30 yards and a UT sports coed "kissing booth" available to lucky fans whenever UT scores a TD of more than 50 yards?

How about we get better music (playing through the speakers)...Bon Jovi (old rock) just isn't doing it anymore...Kinda embarrassing...specially during the UGA game last year.

The decline in student attendance has much more to do with the team's performance than charging for tickets. Nine other SEC schools charge their students for tickets. The only 2 that don't are Vanderbilt and South Carolina.

student tickets used to be free back in the day. its not a bad idea actually for when attendance is low. we need all the homefield advantage we can get.

I find it quite ridiculous that some of you place the blame for a one year variance in the Pride of the Southland on somebody you know nothing about. All three band directors are more than capable of creating a product that is both entertaining and still adheres to the tradition that the Pride of the Southland has created for itself over the 140 years it has been in existence. One of the greatest aspects of the gameday experience at the University of Tennessee relies strongly on the Pride of the Southland (including the most photographed moment in college football), and Dr. Sousa has adhered to the standard that Dr. Julian built for the Pride and has carried on the tradition that is revered in college athletics. I can guarantee you that any of the band directors are not the reason for an "off year" for the Pride. With the growing competitiveness of admissions at the university, it is becoming increasingly difficult to maintain consistent numbers. Fortunately, the problem has been targeted and all that can be done is being done to ensure that the Pride will continue to be one of the best bands in the country.

Gotcha. I'll admit that hyperbole can get the best of me.

How about this, some students of mine told me there was a lot of bickering and the such amongst all levels of the band.

That does sound better.

While the "tougher admissions" excuse is a bunch of guff, the state of the football team does play into it. Who wants to march in a half-empty stadium full of hand-sitters?

The coming new band facilities will help attract music majors that will march, but for many years the Pride of the Southland was also the Pride of the Engineering School.

Everyone can rest well tonight...the 2010 Pride is back over 300 strong! But I'm a bit worried about how the Tuba section will respond in a 4-3 defense.

You are correct. I should have not used a hyperbole to impune the band director.........I just was suggesting that the band was not up to the standards that Dr. Julian had set while I was in college.

Aw hell... If I have to re-enroll to show those kiddos how it's done, I will.

Oh, and UGa just one-upped everyone again. They are aquiring new silver trombones/trumpets of the same make & model to make them sound even louder. The Pride needs to match this, stat.
