Different strokes for different folks. Traditions have to be started somewhere and, unfortunately, some are done away with. Hamilton said he wanted the focus to be on the court and, from the pictures I have seen, it definitely will do the job.

i love that black look of the seats. Imagine how great the uniforms would look with it. :eek:k:

He's thinking modernize the arena, bring fans closer, add luxury boxes, make it more fan friendly, make more money.

I really don't see a downside.
That seems to be the majority opinion. Count my in the majority.

The only downside is th cacity loses alot of seats, like 16 percent. That would be like Neyland droping to 87,000. I do like the look of the new stadium, and I like it.

I'm not really sure what to think of seat colors.

I read that the set color change was done for aesthetics as well as to make the arena look more full. Those orange seats really stand out when nobody is in them.

The capacity issue is a obviously a legitimate concern, but how many crowds have we really ever had in there that used those 4,000 seats?

it's more of the issue of changing the seat color that i dont like. ut is orange, not black. save those colors for vanderbilt.

Mike Hamilton is doing a great job the changes look incredible. Thank god you're not the one making any decisions.

If I was the one making decisions I sure wouldn't be lowering the capacity in Neyland and inflating the donations required to hold on to season tickets.

Don't kid yourself . . . Hamilton is just doing what AD's are supposed to do. It's all about maintaining cash flow.

The black seats won't matter. Everyone will be wearing orange and white anyway.

That could be a good thing though. Get rid of the geezers and old farts that are at the games by default. Put some of the bigger spenders in boxes so we have the louder fans in the seats making noise. I'm not sure how the capacity will affect it, but some of the louder arenas in NCAAB are smaller. Also, we rarely bring in a max capacity but now we will still be able to break 20k but say we are completely full.

Good point. The seats could be lavender and it wouldn't matter because the place is going to be filled up next year.

Yeah, why are we worrying about the color of the seats? That won't matter unless fans aren't there and that won't happen as long as Pearl is there and there is a game going on.

then y change them at all?:p

I don't know duck, but I'm glad they are. Those seats in that arena are filthy. If nothing else, the black will cover up all the dirt and grime and I'll feel better having not seen it.

For recruiting of course, the younger kids love the color black(uniform changeups, etc.). It is bold and intimidating. Duke Crews himself said that if we would have had that last year and he would have saw it, he wouldn't have even made any visits.

I'm with the majority on this one. Like I said in a previous thread, I think the changes make the arena look more "professional," which is exactly what recruits want to see. I don't really see how "tradition" is affected. The black is clean and bold, the new boxes look outstanding, and the scoreboard/screen will be very cool. I mean, you have to grow with the times, right?

I suppose we're better off, but I hate losing capacity. 24,000 plus for Florida, UK, and Lady Vols/UConn won't be able to happen again. But, you guys are right in that 21,000 would be plenty for all of the other games.

You mean it won't ruin your basketball tailgating expierence knowing you haveto go in and sit in black seats?

*Snicker* :p

Glad to see you like the changes.
