Mike Gundy is getting what he deserves

Gundy is/was a good coach. But it seems he's gotten complacent. He took a paycut this past Jan and I can't imagine he was too happy about that.

I would not be surprised to see him step aside into a GM type of role in the athletic department.
The really interesting thing about the new contract is just the fact that he agreed to it.

He could have said "No, we have a current deal in place that pays me XYZ, has a rolling 5-year term, has a buyout of X%, etc. I'm not signing a new deal that changes those things - if you're not happy with the job I'm doing, then just fire me and buy me out." But he didn't. It also has language in there about helping the AD find a successor.

I do think he cares about the university/team and, to a larger extent, his legacy. But I also think it's fair to say his motivation has probably waned.

I would love to see Gundy finding his own successor.

Wasn't there a backstory that led to the ducks ripping Gundy a new one? What happened?

I think i heard something where Gundy spent like 7 million on NIL compared to the large amount Oregon spent and Gundy complained about and Lanning took it to heart. Hence, the beatdown from Oregon.

If Gundy has a distaste for what the modern game has turned into with NIL, there's nothing wrong with that...he probably should just leave his current job though. The fact that they explicitly laid out in this new contract that he has to assist with fundraising efforts, and that he acknowledges their importance, is pretty telling. And I didn't really hear him complaining about the amount of money in college sports when T. Boone was around.
