Per ESPN FPI, Ok St isn't favored in any of their remaining games.

Bold prediction (that isn't that bold): Mike Gundy isn't going to last the season. He'll get to retire comfortably off his earnings over the years or maybe become a position coach elsewhere.

God forbid I become a defender of Schiano, but what did he do to us? Truly what are our reasons for hating him?

He didn’t screw us over like Grundy did. We didn’t want him as our head coach and he realized it would not be a good fit. I’m glad he did. We wouldn’t be where we are now had he ended up here, but it’s not like he screwed us over or strung us along like Gundy.

You mean Sciano threatening a lawsuit over the MOU wasn't enough?

And Gundy went for less than 24 hours before turning us down. Currie offered him, he discussed it with his family and OSU admin, they countered, he stayed after making the Tweet or whatever about being a Cowboy for life.

Did he use us for a raise? Yeah, but it was also less than he would have made here. So, let's not act like he was lighting cigars with hundred dollar bills with his new raise. He also got his staff a raise there as well and there's something to be said about someone who cares enough to get his coaching staff more money as a part of any bargain.

While I'm not sure he wouldn't have ended up getting fired down the road, his hire would have averted the Pruitt disaster. Gundy is just in an unfortunate situation where his current position isn't going to ever be able to have a great NIL program. But the man can coach with the proper talent and is a moral man who's never been implicated in a scandal.

If that is true, then that speaks volumes about Lanning. He already comes across as a genuinely nice guy, to have his players feel this way....that man is doing something right.

Gundy turned us down 3 seperate times (according to him). He carried it out a lot longer when we hired Butch.

And I don’t blame Schiano for threatening a lawsuit. He was offered a job and accepted it when Currie couldn’t read the room. For the record, I don’t like Schiano and he would’ve been a bad fit here. I don’t see a reason for fans to be rooting against him because of the way he acted though in that situation.

The CFB landscape changed quickly. Every change was yet another nail in OKSt's coffin.

Gundy is an interesting coach. He developed unspectacular players into effective offenses (especially) and defenses. What would he have done with our resources? Could have been successful. Currie was right to kick the tires on Gundy. He played us for a raise, but I suspect he gave it a lot of thought. I think he concluded he could be considered better in Stillwater and get a lot more grace for bad seasons there. He chose a "lifetime" tenure at his alma mater (looks like his time is up) over a chance at the big show.

NIL and the portal just withered their roster. Some athletic departments and coaching staffs have made the new landscape work for them, like Clark Lea and Vandy. Gundy and company just have not stepped up.

Yeah, I was just looking at that.

Golesh is on everyone's radar, but he's likely in a better position at USF than he would taking over a dumpster fire in Stillwater. He's a hot commodity and better jobs (and by that I mean those that can invest in an NIL program) will open this year.
