Mike Griffith...

You're the one making idiotic assertions about who is "connected" and who's not. Please tell me what Griffith's presence at practice has added to his coverage? The fact is simple, he's a bad writer at an equally bad newspaper.

According to Red Barber, one of the most important rules of journalism is simple: BE THERE. By making a daily presence, he earns the respect of Coach Pearl and the rest of the team, and it is much easier to talk to someone that you know is there everyday. That way, he gets better quotes and better information than guys who aren't there as much, because the coaches and players view them as "strangers" and not nearly as well informed as Griffith. The fact is simple, he knows what's going on with UT basketball the way others-like you, don't.

Why doesn't he ever print any of this allegedly worthwhile information he gets?

That doesn't stop people from publishing about who they hear is getting a look at being our next coach. I knew Fulmer was canned nearly a week before it was reported.

Well that's wonderful, but that still doesn't change the fact that it wasn't reported by a reliable source until the day it happened. There's a reason why people are publishing who they are hearing is getting a look at being the next coach and it's because it is a coaching search. There are a lot of candidates so therefore there will be a lot of people who are getting a look.

I could care less whether or not you consider me reliable. The fact is several of the "uninformed" "unconnected" VN members knew about Fulmer being fired the day it happened, whereas KNS knew about it a few hours before Fulmer announced it to the world.

I come from a town of 60k. I thought our sports page was a joke, I came here in 00' KNS sports page is indeed a joke. Homers and non homers ie John Adams alike. It is a pitiful excuse for top notch journalism. I thought of 1 big break they made a while back, but it escapes me. It was probobly Cris Low anyway. I could be wrong.

Chris Low reported the firing at around 10:30, however breaking news on ESPN can sometimes only be taken with a grain of salt as many of the reporters are looking to break a big story rather than be entirely factual all the time. KNS simply waited until the information at hand could be validated as many other papers did as well.

The decision to fire Fulmer was made 6 days prior to that 10:30 announcement.

Why wouldn't he show up for practice? It's his job. He has openly admitted he's Chavis' pal. Mike Strange doesn't even cover the team full time and his work is 100 times more worthwhile than anything Griffith does. He's at the News-Sentinel. That's the journalistic equivalent of being the head football coach at Louisiana-Monroe.

mike strange is much better at covering ut basketball.

I'm going to keep remembering how "unconnected and unreasonable" I am as I travel around the country seeing coaches this winter.

i am looking forward to the half court trap this season. this season of college basketball should be a very interesting season. i'm hoping my coach pitino can get the cards back to the final four. of course, as long as tennessee's not in the way. i'm a vol fan first.

I think a healthy Louisville team makes it to Detroit.

You, sir, are unconnected and unreasonable.

I think the fact that I counted most of MTSU's football coaching staff amongst my regulars at my former job makes me more connected than anyone that writes for the KNS. Maybe I should go work there.
