Mike Griffith On Schiano

It is irrelevant what other coaches say about other coaches. There is always an ulterior motive when discussing another coaches abilities. See Saban's glowing endorsement of Dooley..... Hire Kiffin

Agree 100 percent. Who cares what another coach says, his record doesn't match the "glowing endorsement".

All of you who are badmouthing Shiano should do some research on this coach. Belichick and the Patriots think he's one of the best out there. I'm going with Belichick over some of the most uninformed fans here on Volnation. Miami and Oregon wanted him badly just a few years ago. He did a fantastic job putting Rutgers on the map - and that was Rutgers. A much better hire than Mullen.

I don't give a damn if he's the second coming of Neyland himself. We cannot have that guy coaching at UT.

If you’re encouraging people to do some research on Schiano shouldn’t you at least research how to spell his last name?

For the record Mullen is a far superior hire than Schiano. Pretty obvious we’re down to our tier 3 coaches.

The reason we’re down to our tier 3 coaches is simply because the UT administration and AD will not do whatever it takes to get a coaching staff in here that cannot only do the job, but that would also inspire the fan base and turn this program around.

Yes, we wanted and needed a homerun hire. But we were expecting yet another mediocre hire. What we were not expecting is the level of incompetence, disinterest and total disregard for state of the program...and to have an obvious middle finger shoved in our faces by the boosters, the AD and administration.

I don’t think that most of the objections to Schiano are due to his coaching abilities.

Shouldn’t Currie have seen the backlash against a guy with baggage like this? Heck, I don’t pretend to know if Schiano did or did not know about child abuse at Penn State, but I do know that an accusation like that made under oath is enough to steer clear of him. If we stayed away from guys like Petrino because of what he did, an allegation of failing to take responsible action regarding Sandusky should have been a red flag.

I just don’t know what to say at this point. It really hurts to watch another disaster transpire at UT.

To even think this would go over well is a whole other level of stupidity!I don't give a crap if he is the golden child of football coaching...just the perception he turned his back on the crap at PSU is reason enough for a large resounding HELL NO!

This is much more than about W/L %, X's & O's ect. Additionally, Bill Belichick the cheater is about the last person I would trust to vouch for someone's integrity.

I just don't believe it at all. No way he would be that stupid to hire Schiano. I can't believe there are posters trying to say this hire is ok because of Rutgers years.

If we are hiring a coordinator then Tee or Pruitt or someone that can recruit Southeast.

I would rather have Cut, Kiffin, Norvell, Leach or 50 others then Schiano. After that Vandy loss, Currie has to know he can't trot out Schiano to a press conference, that is crazy.

This has to be a smokescreen. Unfortunately Currie has to have his hire in place next couple of days or we lose most of recruiting class due to a rumor like this.

It wasn’t a smokescreen, they were finalizing the deal and he would’ve already been introduced today had the severe fan backlash not occurred. Believe that.

It's for sure you won't find any SEC coaches saying they wish Kiffin would come to Tenn
