Are you suggesting Z isnt a very good WR coach because the only solid performer was the only upperclassman?

No. I'm saying it because his players didn't seem to get better as the season progressed. Injuries aside tell me a receiver that was better at the end of the season.

Huh? I don't think it's a problem finding an OC other then big time OC's are making 800K-1.2k and we're paying 480K-510K. I don't think there is really a lack of interest in the job. Pretty much looks like it was DeBord in some capacity from the get go.

Yeah Chief just got 1.7 million as a coordinator from A&M until UT steps up to the plate and starts pony up the funds we are not going to draw the big time coaches.

Croom until his injury. Pearson after his injury. Pig was good all season. Who else was healthy? Josh Malone is easy to point to but he was a true Freshman and it's very rare for a true Freshman receiver to make a real impact in the SEC. Malone's lack of improvement was more on him and not Azzanni.

We haven't been nationally relevant in a decade.

Makes sense but with all the weapons we have they should be beating down the door to be here.

That's what I believe personally. It was always Debord from the beginning whether it was the best or not. I simply can't believe there isn't one top tier OC that's wants more information and or interview.

From the sound of this thread it looks like the police are going to have to set up a ticket booth to sell launching spots from the Gay Street Bridge on Wednesday.

True fans jump from the Henley Street Bridge.

If it was a snake, half you guys would be dead. Butch does Not want a guy coming in here with bold ideas and taking over. Butch wants a Butch guy. A company man. Someone who will seamlessly step in and finish the damn process.

Do I think Noel Mazzone is a better coordinator, yes I do.

Will he seamlessly step in and fill a roll and do things Butches way...nope.

DeBored looks like that guy.

I love the idea of adding DeBord as the new OC (or, even better, of his being co-OC with Azzanni). Daniel Lewis made a statement in his Rocky Top Insider article on DeBord that was music to my ears:

"Perhaps Jones sees this as an opportunity to further intertwine the spread principles that are in place with him and his current staff with some downhill, pro-style running elements . . ." That is exactly what we need. Just ask Ohio State.

My concerns with the potential hire are the same as most everybody else: 1) I don't want to lose Azzanni. He's a great recruiter and if he goes we are likely to lose some of the top recruits in this class. 2) Who is going to coach the quarterbacks. But I trust Butch Jones to make the right decisions.

I don't like the hire if this is true, but those saying that Butch has signed his fate and has no chance sound rediculous.
No one liked the Butch Jones hire either. Try putting just an ounce of trust in the head coach.

Peterman will coach the quarterbacks.

Good points! I will take a wait and see approach with the new OC. Being away from football for a season really helped Urban Myer become a better coach. So I won't rush to judgement to fast.

He was gone for all of 1 season which equated to maybe 8 months. Not 3-4 years and out of playcalling for 8.

After the previous two hires, I have trust issues.

We are not going to lose multiple recruits in this class because of a WR coach leaving.

Butch is the Head Coach. He is heavily involved in recruiting. A coach may leave but the next one brings in new talent. I am not at all worried. I feel Butch has his finger on the pulse of this program and has a solid plan for success. Go Vols!!!

DeBord coached Tom Brady at Michigan so if he is CBJ's choice, he has a good history of working with quarterbacks.

Rucker is making it sound like no decision has been made, and he's still hearing other names.

Wes is great at getting accurate info and doesn't sensationalize things.
