Its doubtful on a lot of fronts.
Surely to goodness someone from TOS would have a small nugget as to what's happening.
I don't buy the fact that Jones would let CZA walk and then he decided to attend a game at TBA. I'd be damned if I gave money to an ex employer.

I'll start one...

HC: BUTCH JONES
OC: SCOTT FROST
WR: ZACH AZZANI
OL: MAHONEY\DEBORD
QB: Bama QB COACH
DC: JOHN JANCHEK
DL: STEVE STRIPPLING
LB: Tommy THIGPEN

projected $:

$1.3M
$650,000
$350,000
500,000 SPLIT ACCORDINGLY.
300,000
750,000
500,000
450,000

it gonna happen.
Mis spellings and all.
Best staff in the entire in the world.

Muhahahahaha!

Your best staff lacks a RB coach, a DB coach, and a ST/TE coach. Not to mention, if Helfrich wants to keep Frost, we could not outbid Phil Knight.

Don't have a name off the top of my head, but given our QBs, it would be someone who has worked with QBs like Mariotta or Winston. Not saying we could get guys from Oregon or FSU, just someone who has worked with similar style QBs.

Well idk who is Arizonas qb coach is but I'd take him in the perfect world to go with Scott frosts offense

I think it's hilarious that he talks about consulting Peyton Manning, Jon Gruden, Fulmer, and others about this OC search but the armchair HC's on this board think he's a friggin moron.

Do you honestly think Peyton would recommend someone like Debord? As involved as Manning is he should make his voice heard.

Give it a rest. We the fans fund the damn football program. He could at least have the decency to explain his "process" whether the hire is viewed as good or bad.

I'm an insider and Butch told me that you would getting a call later tonight. Please wait by the phone. He also mentioned that he needs your input on all coaching matters going forward.:rock:

Charlie Baggett is an awesome WR coach. If what the op says is true I'm not worried.

WR coaching isn't the problem. Who is going to Coach QB's? He had Loefler at Mich coaching QB's. Really doubt he hires this guy unless he is replacing Mahoney as OL Coach and bring in a QB Coach. Debord does not coach QB's.

Agreed take the outcome of Kiffin and Gran

I also understand that you have to have chemistry. You also have to get away from complacency and go for it at some point otherwise your decision making will be called into question or the new hire and yourself will be seeking new employers the following year.

Which is why I said Butch is taking a huge risk. He's literally putting his own job in jeopardy if this hire falls flat on its face.

Butch on 1045 The Zone seems to be pretty much trying to indirectly talk up why he would hire Mike DeBord without actually saying it. Seems more and more likely. I was hoping he would try and knock it down.

I agree. Thats the feeling I got. Saying "the outisde likes hot names but we want fit" screams Debord

I don't know wether to be optimistic or cautious. Guess we will have to wait till football season to find out.

We going without Gillespie as RB Coach? :)

Butch quotes on what he is looking for in his OC

@Vol_Football: JONES on @FootballScoop Radio: We are looking to bring in an individual who can elevate our staff and someone who is a fit.

@Vol_Football: JONES: We want an individual who can call plays. We want someone who might have coached multiple positions. Creativeness, energy.

@Vol_Football: JONES: We are not looking for an overhaul, we are looking to enhance our system and continue to grow it.

@Vol_Football: JONES: We can’t go backwards and spend time installing a new system.

@Vol_Football: JONES: It is a great profession. With the younger guys on our staff, it is our duty to enhance their positions. Constantly educate them.

@Vol_Football: JONES: We want individuals who are dedicated to this sport. We have heavily involve our quality control & grad assts. I’m grateful for them.

@Vol_Football: JONES: Phillip Fulmer, Jon Gruden, Peyton Manning have been great resources during this coordinator search.

75% of the people on this board don't even know who this guy is and 90% don't know anything about him.

99.9% don't know if he is a good coach or not. Yet Volnation melts down.

In a perfect world, we'd have donors with pockets as deep as Phil Knight. The Haslams are a drop in the bucket compared to the money he pours into Oregon.

Radio guy that conducted the interview said he knew of 3 or 4 guys that were going to be interviewed and that 1 had been finished.

Edit: He also said he thinks Jones knows them all pretty well

I respect Fulmer--but the idea that he could /really/ be a help finding a great OC for a spread/read-option offense in 2015 is comical. All he could do is what Jones is doing--mention a couple of graybeards.

is Butch doing his best impression of the Doolster??? This is like Butch's version of Sal S****** (I think writing out his full name would make me gag).

Absolutely agree. If DeBord is hired, it will mean DBJ doesn't get it, and definitely doesn't understand that it takes coaching talent to win in the SEC.

It does sound like debord.
He is using the " load the boat " approach so if it doesn't appease the masses ( or worse it fails) then Peyton, Fulmer et all share some responsibility.
Butch "gets it" we love some of those names too much to condemn the call if they are involved.
He's a gambler!
Hope he's got some aces up his sleeve.

88.3 % of all 99.9% stats on the internet are 100% made up!:) :loco:

Not to pick at old bones, but it was a bad hire that ultimately cost Fulmer his job.

And that should tell you all you need to know.
So, you've managed to stay steadily employed as a coach for 35 years in college and the NFL, too?

Have you also been employed as an NFL coach each of the last 18 years , won 3 division championships, and taken a team to the Super Bowl ?
