I promise, life existed for UT football before Butch Jones showed up.

Hard for some of you guys to believe, I know.

The fact that a good bit of those improvements you mentioned could unravel quickly if DeBord or whoever he hires falls short just can't enter into the vollyanna group think however.
What does the last two years have to do with Dooley's and Lane kiffins failures? Why can't you accept we have a great head coach? It seems you haven't left the past behind and moved on.

Somebody tell me why Debord is a bad hire, other than he got fired (all coaches get fired)and why he was out of football so long ?

You tell everybody why this is even a decent hire . If this comes out to be true then BJ put his job on the line and if recruits start jumping ship then this will tell you what they think about the hire.

we can keep filling up this thread, but here are the facts--
If Butch hires DeBord as OC without interviewing anyone else and Azzani leaves, this will be an epic failure that not even Dooley could pull off...
For that reason and the fact that up until now, Butch seems to have his act together and knows recruiting is everything for this program right now, I just can't see him Dropping a grenade like this on a program that is clearly on the rise.... This would send everything into a talespin that we might not be able to come out of and clearly, recruits will jump ship.... Why would he jeopardize all this he has worked so hard to build on a bush-league move like this???
For this reason only I am calling BS, or Hart is still the one making all the decisions and will be the one to totally blame for the program falling back on its face just as it got back on its two feet and was starting to sprint....

They guy understands offense it won't take him too long. Heck he could have been doing some studying during his years off. He also understands how to call plays most importantly.

If true you have to like the call to bring back Charlie Baggett I mean he is one heck of a WR coach I tell you.

Good points! I will take a wait and see approach with the new OC. Being away from football for a season really helped Urban Myer become a better coach. So I won't rush to judgement to fast.

Butch is not stupid. Don't worry my friend. Got to believe the HC knows what's best and has a plan. Go Vols!!

..and if they don't jump ship?

I love all of the doom and gloom in this thread. You guys act like one of us got elected to coach the offense.

Losing azzani for damn mike debord. Man that stings. Impressed ol butch so much that he didn't even interview another candidate. Not the greatest of strategies when conducting business.

Ummm.. He already knew the candidate VERY well. I think he was looking for validation. He must have gotten it. It's not the SEXY hire so everyone hates it.

Socratic Paradox..."I know that I know nothing" or "I know one thing: that I know nothing"I think I will agree to the second thought! I don't make these decisions and I trust the people that do.

Why would any of our defense recruits jump ship? Some of the offense commits might reconsider if this is all true, but unless Janceck leaves, the defense commits stick.
