Why don't we just call in the Pilot guy Haslam to put gas on our whole athletic program and just let it go up in flames especially since he does not want the UTC guy for AD. Then we could be Haslams UT Browns of the SEC East.maybe he will push for us incorporating the used orange and brown game jerseys from the NFL just to save money. We could then put Smokey in the Dog Pound , Arf Arf, Woof Woof, then we could get into analytics and hire someone from the home economics department to run our athletic dept. Oooooooo what a rush!

Agreed. Unless the rumor of a Brady Hoke or a Terry Fair type of hire is true. Maybe they actually help you on NSD? Martinez and Mahoney are the ones who need to go and I don't know if they recruit at all.

Agreed the only reason I could see keeping coaches passed NSD besides the fact now that it's so close to NSD, is if they recruited certain players. If Terry Fair or Hoke wanted the job I'd assume Butch would wait til after NSD now because they won't have time to build any sort of relationship with the current recruits and risk decommitment. Thats one reason Butch didn't freak when Debord left... obviously didn't recruit many players. Lol

I remember hearing an interview on local Knoxville radio with this guy last year, the day before our game. He was very upbeat and complimentary of Butch. As weird as it sounds, when I was listening to him I thought Butch might reach out to this guy at some point

Most of this is compiled from:

a) Friends at UTAD. Not insiders but who work there or have friends within. These are based on what they are hearing.

b) Chattanooga Free Times reported Chis Weinke and Mike Canales were the two people interviewed for the QB/OC job.
(See Link 1 Below). Then Seccountry.com reported that Weinke was off the board.
This information was similar to what I had been hearing from my friends. I do not enjoy starting rumors. Just genuinely concerned that we might end up with Canales. Posting here allows me to see if anyone else has conflicting information.

Scott will be promoted to OC and Canales will be the QB/co OC......Scott wants to be a HC.

After reading up on Canales he may not be as bad as I originally thought..... still not sexy though

What about the O'Connell guy they interviewed? I also thought it was reported that they might look interview someone else midweek.

Meh, call me crazy but OC/QB experience makes him more attractive than Scott. Helfrich probably would've been a bigger name but this is a lot like Debord which worked out pretty well. Butch wants someone he can trust to run his offense where he can focus on bungling crucial in game decisions. 😂

No problem. I did not take it in a wrong manner. A lot of other people here had asked for a link too. I did not have one link to cite, rather it was a combination of multiple information. Updated the original post too.
I would love to hear what some former VOLS on here are hearing and what are their reactions ?
