Mike Bianchi article about the program

The Tennessee athletic department.

We go lease a Miata and pay Ferrari prices. The Miata barely works and we extend the lease and pay Lamborghini prices.

We go against schools that have Ferraris, Corvettes, and Lamborghinis.

We then decide to challenge those schools to a drag race....
😆

Is Mullen always so arrogant and ungracious in his comments after a win or does he just particularly hate Pruitt for some reason? Admittedly, I haven't listened to him much, but what I have heard and seen from him, he really comes off as a douche.
Hurts when someone else gloats. But, the Vols would be supercharged gloating if we won.

You COMPLETELY missed the point. And YES... right now, I would say that UT is a better program than UF. Whats the head to head records over the last several years? Right now... 76-57 UT since 1927.

You said best program in the conference. Not UF/UT. Conference

Right now... who is the better program? UK? Who? UK has woefully underachieved with the talent they've had. UK fans are about over Cal and his one and done strategy. Id rather be UT's program right now than any other in the SEC.

Good numbers considering the ONLY team to have an overall winning record over UT was Bama and Aub was a tie when Fulmer was fired. So... SOMEBDODY was doing a helluva lot of winning prior. To be so shortsighted as to think that UT cannot win BIG in the SEC is simply wishful thinking. When did you EVER think that UT would have the best bball program in the conference? BTW... before Spurrier got to UF, you weren't even on the RADAR as a contender in the SEC. So you can save us all your pity and blathering on.

OK, so moving on from the basketball issue.

Of course, someone did a lot of winning at one time. Obviously. And I have said repeatedly that Tennessee can win again at the highest level.

However, what I think one has to acknowledge at this point is that during the last 50 years (basically integration), Tennessee has very rarely, if ever dominated the biggest obstacles it faced to winning championships. I went back as far as 1977. I'll go back to 1970 and include Battle.

Battle vs.

Florida 2-1
Georgia 1-1
Alabama 1-6
Auburn 2-5

So, it's 7 coaches over 50 years and the data is clear. Even during the Decade of Dominance.....which everyone would acknowledge was the best decade of the last 5 decades, Tennessee was 8-11-1 vs. Florida and Alabama.

Not one coach of those seven had an overall record over .500 against those opponents (Florida, Georgia, Alabama and Auburn). Not one. Fulmer was .500 at 27-27-1.

In the Battle/Majors years, the tough opponents were Alabama and Auburn. In the post Majors period, those opponents have been Florida, Georgia, and Alabama.

So, all I am saying is based on those numbers.......over 50 years.....it's not cyclical.

Agree, but at this point, I'd appreciate just seeing a return to our historical averages. This 2-3 win seasons are pathetic for our program.
