Mike Bellotti on Wolfpack Defense

Mike Bellotti said that TN needs to watch out for ncsu's "great defense"... Do these guys ever do their damn homework?! If giving up 25 pts a game in the ACC while playing three OOC cupcakes and being ranked 60th in D makes you a great defense, then we must be looking for a season like the 2000 Ravens...Ncsu has a WAC level LB group and an inexperienced D- line... I don't understand where they are getting this "great defense" BS at...Anyway, merge if necessary

Maybe they are trying to encourage action (vegas) on ncst. espn talking heads have been known to steer you wrong----I used to go totally against their speil---and win.

As I posted in another thread they gave up over 2900 yards through the air. We gave up less than 2200 yards. Yes they did have 3 times as many picks as we did, but look at who they played.

isn't it safe to say that nc state played against more pass heavy offenses then we did?

I think CJC called maybe 2 screen last season ...with 2 inept backup QBs in the game. It should have been a screen-o-rama given the circumstances.

So , unless something has changed , I doubt we see any screens

we'll see at least 4 screens to backs or bubble screens to receivers

NCSU's defense was decimated with injuries last year so it is hard to judge their performance. They lost their entire two deep at DT and had to resort to playing DE's and walkons. They were significantly better late in the season when healthy.

I see us winning by 2 td's but they do have a solid defense.

That was one of the things we worked on this spring getting the wr. to be better at blocking for the run game. That was not done very good last year.

Sadly, I don't see us stopping their offense though. It's going to be a shootout.

This is the perfect game to see if our offensive line and Neal have improved. NC State LBs are unproven. Punch a hole in the line for a big gain. You don't have to have a dominant defense if you can consistently move the chains. Off tackle, short outs, and Rivera in the flat will wear NC State out and set up the big play. Worst thing we could do is get into a shootout where we are going 3 and out and/or throwing INTs. Gives us a chance to see if Hunter is back and what we have in CP, while not giving FLA too much info.

I expect to see more this year... Probably afraid Poole weuld just get tackled by the turf monster. Turf monster had 15 tackles each time poole played

I hope your right ...if just for the sake of logic. I spent sooo much of last season wondering why Simms and the freshman were asked to throw down field and across the middle when screen and dumpoffs were always there ..not to mention that Rivera was always open and just dying to become an All American.
