Bear Bryant got his start in coaching at Union University.Convince yourself that coaching defense/DBs in the SoCon is no different than coaching them in the SEC. Convince yourself that recruiting in the SoCon is no different than recruiting in the SEC. Delusion is fun.

Conklin had to have established relationships with plenty of coaches in the Carolinas. He might not have been recruiting the same caliber of players, but those relationships will serve him well here. Pretty sure he'll do fine selling UT on it's own merits.
Did some of you learn nothing from the Hinshaw thread? Wow...
Glad you finally had something good to say about someone. That wasn't so hard now,was it? :good!:there is a great pee-wee coach in my hometown that is undefeated. Dooley should take a look at him. As everyone has said we need all the help we can get and as most have stated you don't need Div. 1 experience to coach at Tennessee.
Proof please. This is pure opinion on your part since "the average whatever" has not spoken for themselves. If you ask the average college football fan/analyst, they'll say UT is a sinking ship.
OK. So you are saying the roster is not significantly better today than it was two years ago, correct? Ultimately much of it comes down to players, right? And from someone who is closely following it (like me and others on here) it is a sinking ship.
This program is slightly more stable since January 14th. Dooley's done a decent job of improving the roster, but after that it's still a mess.

This is the problem with fans talking down the program. It risks becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy if indeed masses of better named coaches were saying "no". Regardless of what they might think of Dooley, who would want to coach where the fans demand success with what Dooley inherited and turn on coaches before giving them an adequate chance to clean up the mess others created?
Of course the negative comments of people on chat boards mean nothing, right? Call in shows mean nothing, right? They don't contribute at ALL to the perception that a coach who should NOT yet be on a hot seat is....
If indeed what some of you suggest is the reality then it has FAR more to do with the irrational expectations than anything concerning Dooley.

Unless that "after that" stuff suits up and hits the field... how do you expect it to impact what happens on the field?
FTR ad nauseum- all of this non-sense is simply proving me a prophet. I did not think anyone including Dooley would get the 5 years some suggested to turn the program around even though EVERYONE claimed to realize how bad it was when he arrived. I do not make alot of definitive predictions but I did make this one.... that if he did not win by year three then UT fans would have the pitchforks out. And those in the UT fanbase toting pitchforks are about as ignorant as the typical guy who carries a pitchfork into battle.

It is very plain to see that you are another of the village fools who fears those who do know a little about this type of subject and can shed a lot of light on this.
I don't expect 5-7 seasons at UT in a man's second year.
Quite simple really.
