So Trevor Daniel is averaging 47.6 yards per punt, has downed 13 inside the 20, has two punts of 61 yards tied for his long, and has boomed 14 kicks of 50-plus yards......confused how he didn't get the nod here...

According to the stats that Aschoff used, Trevor Daniel should have easily taken the mid-season all-conference pick. 47.6 yd avg. Long of 61. 14 of 50+ yds. Straight up homer pick by Ed.

If there is one position you can judge pretty much purely by stats, it is the punter.

Edward Aschoff just showed bias in favor of his alma mater. And that's a big no-no in national sports writing. Just lost some respect for the guy.

How hard is it to look at all the punters in the league and pick some stats like this and then pick the best one. I mean Daniel is smoking him in every category

I don't have inside the 20 stats, but tamu's punter is leading the sec in average yardage. The Florida guy is a distant third, but Florida punts more.

That's what happens when you aren't ranked. Just like the Heisman. You have to be a top team to get recognition.
