1. I was wrong about JG and now believe the offense has been slowed by his play. From game to game, the sum seemed so much less than the parts for UTs offense... The oline isn't perfect, but JG has had 2x more time to throw than he did the last couple years.
I know Mauer threw some pics last week, but the offense seems to "go" when he is in there.
I really like JG and hope he gets his feel for the game back. Heck, wouldnt surprise me if he has a 15 year career as a backup in the NFL (ie Simms). But Mauer is our best chance at getting to a bowl.
2. The Oline is officially serviceable and nearing SEC middle of the pack (which is impressive considering the youth). As mentioned in point 1, the oline has been better all season. Can yall remember how many times our RBs were hit behind the line of scrimmage last year and year before? It's been much better this year.
With Mauer bringing the Juice, I think we will see a big offensive leap in the next 6 games as a result of a serviceable oline.
3. The D Line will be the bright spot of the defense by november. The coaches said all year that they were happy enough with the talent and just needed experience and would continue to get better every week. I think we are seeing that.
3+. I wish VN would look at Emerson as a reason to stop calling "bust" everytime someone isn't an immediate star. Did the same thing with Josh Malone and many other players.
And here is my 1 hope for the second half of the season:
The light turns on for JJ Peterson. Good lord we are gonna be thin at ILB next year... At least HT and QC give us a scary looking first team at that position.
