Midnight Yell at Texas A&M before Tennessee (Live)

The stories/jokes are always of the bad dad/uncle joke variety, though for a period some years back they would get a bit more risque, but it is now more "family friendly".
It's more about the common experience for Aggies.
Most every tradition at A&M requires active participation (Yell Practice/Midnight Yell, 12th Man, Howdy, scoring after scoring, etc), as opposed to passively watching others perform the tradition.
The downside is it may not be as exciting for outsiders to watch as War Eagle, Howard's Rock, dotting the i, etc.

Agreed. Good points except never have been impressed with Howard's rock and always waiting for the players to tumble down the hill. Saw it in person, meh.

The stadium, maybe some tailgating experiences, and the loudness in game are what impress me more though. Outside the stadium/game traditions only sometimes/rarely.

I watched the Periscope. This may be the dumbest thing I've ever seen. It makes Alabama fans look smart...that's saying a lot!!

It was unique, but not all that. A bunch o jokes about Vols that really werent very good, a lot of hand signals, chants, etc. I asked someone if they had to take a class before they came to a game. I said in Tennessee, we just play football.....

We are at their house. If it gets them ready for a game, so what? I'am sure when other fans come to UT they see and hear things that they don't understand, just as we don't understand them. My response ,who gives a da-- one way or the other? PLAY BALL! !

We tried...I think before Vandy 2013 (barely attended)...early failure by Butch.

I know he's been criticized some, but you can't fault Butch for not trying to revive this dead carcass of a program when he came. That, fist up defense(which I hated), 3rd Dn 4 Wht, DJ at game, ran off the band director, smokey greys, Nike, etc etc. Gotta give the guy some kudos for putting in the work.

I was there...and I can confirm...

The Midnight Yell Practice is as Ghey, corny and stupid as you could EVER imagine...

Checked off my College Football Atmosphere List...but certainly one of the lamest I've ever witnessed.

This is you, isn't it? :eek:lol::eek:lol:

So I did not watch this live..but I have watched plenty of video's...

I just have to say, I think they could make this much cooler if they updated it with some actual decent cheers instead of just a short yell that makes no sense..

Like so many of them are like "whoop whoop" and some some weird hand gesture..

Make it some kind of interactive cheer, making fun of your opponent..

I'm a little surprised by the responses I'm hearing. The Vol fan base values history and tradition. We appreciate huge crowds. Even more so, we value crowds that participate. We value a unique game day experience. A&M brings all that with the best of them.

You don't have to understand the cheers to respect a pep rally that draws 50k at midnight before a game. Sounds a lot like a case of big orange envy.

I respect traditions, just not lame ones
