Why does Tennessee rip off the loyal every day fans ?
Before long the average fan will be watching the game
from the house!
With inflation raging, you might have underestimated those costs.

I'm seeing a lot of places around Knoxville that are in the $3.85 to $3.89 range. A lot more up in the $4.11 to $4.29 range, yes. But still, looks like sub-$4 gas is available out your way.

Some of these gas price search pages online are probably worth checking out.
According to wate gas price search average is 4.19 and none of the sub 4$ are within 20 miles of me
I don't know where you live, brother, but the sub-$4 prices are in all directions:

To not be within 20 miles of any of those, you have to be more than 25 miles outside the city.
the one you circled in the top right corner is closest but that gas station is closed

I got priced out years ago. I used to carry my family to a couple of games a year. Price kept going up and up. Finally, I had to draw a line in the sand and say no. I quit going. Last game I attended was the a$$ whooping Florida handed us when Lyle was our head coach.

I still love, and support my beloved Vols, I just can't afford to go to the games anymore with my family.

It usually isn’t the case for Florida/bama/Georgia games, but there are a lot of times when I hear about people giving up free tickets to games like Akron, etc.

For those who can’t afford to go with families, I’d be happy to keep my ear to the ground for you if there’s a game you’d like to go to. As an added bonus, you can spend the pre-game at my tailgate and I’d be happy to feed you.

I think the point was the cheapest ticket costs almost as much as the trip

Nope. He stated Section S, which are great seats. I wanted better, but the only tickets I could get for Mizzou were upper deck. Those tickets were $45 each. So, you can get in the stadium for much cheaper.

Going to events these days can be expensive, but as everyone else has said, it's supply and demand. Prices wouldn't be so high if people didn't pay it.

Not for Florida from what I saw. When I looked on ticketmaster 140 each was the cheapest for 2 tickets and they were upper deck. Still don't have tickets because of that but hoping I can find a decent deal. I've paid 150 each in 2014 but they were like Section O Row 30.

Florida will be higher than others, but OP has one ticket listed at $140. At this point, I believe the tickets on Ticketmaster are re-sales because they were showing no retail tickets available last week for Florida or Alabama.

Frankly, I was surprised that upper decks were $45 for an SEC game.

I’m heading to that game as well from south Texas. 6 tickets cost over $1000. It is also my first Florida game I have ever been too.

Just checked downtown hotels, price per night that weekend:
Hilton $858
Courtyard $629
Residence $656
Hyatt place $709
Courtyard Bearden $512
Best Western $313
La Quinta North $270

I believe all are 2 night min, + taxes.
You aren't staying anywhere safe to sleep for less than $600.

Also, $50 in food for a day won't get you very far. That's two cocktails with tax and tip.

ACTUALLY, All those expenses look pretty Cheap in today's Climate. My trip would cost me well over $500. The $80.00 Motel; the "Git In Here Motel"?

I took my son to the Florida game at Neyland in 2016. (He was six at the time and this fall will be our sixth annual trip.)

Gas from PA and back: $100
Hotel room for two nights: $750
Two game tickets near the 50-yard line: $900
Parking and concessions: $80

Watching the videos on my phone to this day of my then six-year-old celebrating ending the streak with 38 unanswered points and singing Rocky Top with 100,000+ others at Neyland Stadium…can’t put a price on that. 😉

You going to the PITT game? First Vols game I’ll be at since moving to PA back in 2012. Also check out AirBnBs, cheaper for those than hotels.

I’ve stayed at the Doubletree in Oak Ridge, and I think it’s underrated. Looks like rooms are roughly $200 per night that weekend. It’s not too far from restaurants in west Knoxville and fine for game day. I’ve stayed off Cedar Bluff for less than $600 for the weekend.

Well, sending my oldest son to UTK this fall. Live in Texas. I won't get to any games this fall most likely, but we will see.

I understand student tickets are like $10 a game. He plans to go to all the home games.

If he just gets to one this semester, my cost (after scholarships) will be $12,885 plus the $10 for the game....

Assuming he doesn't spend another dime on books, food, beer, etc.
