Other than for DT, thats SEC championship caliber depth EVERYWHERE. Especially at DE.

We just need Kahlil to live up to his recruiting hype. Shy to be back 100%. And Alexis to get reinstated.

If that happens you might as well book your hotels for Atlanta cause we're going there for sure.

Awesome thanks!

Couple of questions--- I thought Gaulden was slated as the starting NB, when did he transition to safety? Will he possibly be rotated depending on the defense setup? Would have thought Sapp would have been a #2 by now at OLB. Interesting Jack Jones at center, guess he will get rotated as well. Lastly, sorry but Jumper has shown zero reason to even BE on a depth chart....

Shoop called Gaulden a natural safety. I think he would be a starter at either S or NB, but the coaches see him at safety. And Foreman is solid enough to hold down the nickel position.

I think Jack Jones will get more reps at center because Raulerson is transferring. He's versatile, and could really be a floater - filling in where needed. Especially if he doesn't lock down a starting role.

I agree on Jumper. He would have to make major strides to see much action this year. Depth at MLB is kind of thin. I'm hoping in a big way that Bryant is ready to contribute this year.

Agree. Talent and depth across the board. It's football, and crazy things happen, but there is no reason this team couldn't go undefeated this season.

Doubt Tuttle will start the season as the #1. He hasn't practiced all offseason because of the surgery. O'brien will be starting DT.

I'd prefer to see him back in top form on October 1st.

I want him coming into UGA with blood in his eyes and exacting a measure of revenge by wrecking folks. I don't want any players hurt obviously, but I want the UGA offense to feel like they're trying to stop a freight train by the end of the game.

All reports say Shy's on track to be ready by the start of fall camp and 100% for the opener.

O'Brien didn't even start last year. Vickers was ahead of him on the depth chart. If Tuttle isn't ready to start the season, it'll be Vickers and McKenzie. Not O'Brien.

To me.... I'd prefer Bates instead of Jumper. Has Bates fallen that far behind to be overtaken by Jumper? I understand injuries but damn he should be good to go by season opener.

This is a VERY solid, talented, and experienced two deep with one exception. If Jumper is indeed the #2 guy behind Kirkland, we have an issue big time. Last year based only on what I saw, Jumper did not have the talent to play that spot in the SEC. He had the want to and that could help if he has improved some and I feel better knowing Shoop has done very well scheming with that sort of player previously but the drop off between #1 & #2 at that position is like a cliff face off a mountain IMO.

What about our newcomers at LB in Blakely & Bituli? They are 4* prospects & I think at least one of them can contribute their freshman season.

The other one that don't end up getting on the field may end up redshirting but they're both capable of providing us help right away at LB come this season.

We'll still be in nickel most of the time cause most teams run the spread.

According to Shoop, he prefers the base 4-3 and on passing downs will slide one of his OLBs to cover the slot. He may have to adjust but initially I would expect him to stay with his philosophy.

I agree.

Jumper scares the hell outta me as well.

Not if we lack a 3rd LB capable of doing that.

I think Malik Foreman is better than whoever that think our 3rd LB will be. Especially if Austin Smith is really going to be DE most of the time.

Well I said he may have to adjust if we don't have a LB capable of filling the Star position.

Does anyone have any updates on Bates - I still have hopes for him - thought maybe I may have missed something over the summer.

Bates and Butcher seem to be MIA....I saw where Butcher was getting praise from Butch about his work ethic getting back into shape this spring, but at this point Bates needs to break the two-deep or there's gonna be a lot of folks head scratching for someone with that type of hype and star rating to just fade...

Blakely will RS and be the eventual replacement for Kirkland IMO. And he was a 3 star.

You're correct...he has a certain type of player for that star LB position. We have two ideal candidates in Sapp & McDowell.
