It's being reported that MS paid 7.5 BILLION for Bethesda. I may be wrong but I have a feeling what's going to happen is those games will still be available for sale on other consoles but the real exclusivity will come in the form of all those games being available day and date on Game Pass. You don't pay that much for a publisher and not plan to make those games available everywhere for purchase (again, I could be wrong but I'll bet that's what happens). By comparison, MS only paid 1 billion for Mojang and Minecraft continues to be available on everything.

I could see them walling off one huge exclusive. Perhaps Elder Scrolls. But it does make sense to do Gamepass + timed exclusivity.

Making ES an XBox/PC only game and not allowing it on the PS5 or even the Switch would be a huge punch in the balls move by MS. That game goes beyond single party availability. I could see them possibly making Starfield MS-only. But, I don't think they will go that route.

I dont think they will make it exclusive only to Xbox/PC, but I do think they will bank on including it with Gamepass to further build the value with that.

Oh definitely. Would be stupid not to do that. But that won't happen until 2027 (ES6) with how slow Bethesda has been with Starfield and then ES6.

That's exactly right. Any moves that MS makes for their gaming division, you can bet that it's all Game Pass-motivated. That's the business MS is in now.

Good move for gamers. Better to have them available on PS5 as well. But man, Microsoft is going to have a tantalizing advantage/offer with Gamepass. Especially with EA Access/EA Play being included. Sony still has some killer exclusives but people who can only afford one console are going to look much more closely at Xbox now. $120/year for a crap ton of games on demand is just crazy. Or you can buy not even two AAA PS5 games for the same price.

That's huge for Microsoft. Well just have to see if this ends up effecting the quality of Bethesda games. I also wonder if we'll see Bethesda partner with Obsidian again, the that they are both under the Microsoft umbrella.

A next-gen Obsidian-developed Fallout would be amazing.

Wow. XBOX finally has made it a console war again. I'll have to get an XBOX too now, too many Bethesda games I enjoy. Plus they have Obsidian as well who I enjoy games from too. But luckily for my wallet, Itll probably be a year before any big time Bethesda game comes out, so I don't have to get XBOX right away.

Plus, I'll take the hit to my wallet if it means Bethesda Game Studios gets their **** together after that absymal Fallout 76 garbage. They'll have no choice being a first party, microsoft won't accept trash. So all I'm all, even though I'm a PlayStation guy, I'm kinda like this happened. Yes I'm aware that it's being strongly hinted that Bethesda games will mostly still be coming out on PlayStation, but let's be real...time exclusives and exclusive content at the very least will happen. Plus the Game pass is an amazing deal. So still gonna get an XBOX down the road. I don't mind having an XBOX or at least an upgraded PC if it means quality Bethesda RPGs again. Also, as already stated.... Bethesda and Obsidian under the same banner. FFS, FINALLY we can get a new Obsidian Fallout hopefully.

All in all I'm happy. I'm a Playstation guy atm, but I'm a gamer. I want all gaming to do well and pump out amazing games. Good job XBOX!

I don't see any of their current IPs being exclusive. What I do see though, Bethesda will make new exclusive IPs for microsoft I bet.

That ones been around for a while. I’d be shocked if it’s true.

What value would Sega even bring to MS in 2020? Had this happened in 2001, I would've been over the moon about it. But in terms of today, Sega doesn't make much outside of Yakuza, Phantasy Star Online 2, and the occasional bad Sonic game.

But they have a lot of older IP's that could be remade. A new Daytona USA would be awesome.

Huge back catalog and name recognition. It also let's them use their characters in a Mario Cart or Smash Brothers Killer, while keeping them away from Nintendo. Besides they can probably buy Sega for a Large Pizza and a two liter of Diet Rite at this point.
