Half of it is the Defense. He's Head Football Coach. No excuses.

Look at the negaRods coming out tonight!

No, you are correct, just watching the points pile up in Happy Valley and it got me to thinking.Honestly i still think he turns the corner with a mediocre secondary. Unfortunately i doubt they will give him that much time..

I'll harken back on what I said earlier.

If Michigan can get Harbaugh... Rich Rod is probably out of a job.

Harbaugh won't go to Michigan. He'll stay at Stanford until the NFL comes calling.

I know the Harbaugh brothers are competitive, but, in a recent SI article I seem to remember reading that Jim wants to stay in college and leave the pros to John.

Wouldn't take much heart to that, you know how coaches work.

If the 49ers come calling -- and they probably will -- I can't see him passing it up.

Either way, he'd take the Michigan job too.

What happened?

He said something about how their academics didn't compare to Stanford's. That being said, they would have to be idiots to turn him down to get a possibly incompetent coach just because of something like that he said, which is true, anyways.

You could probably put Carolina, Jacksonville, Buffalo, San Diego, and Dallas on that list as well. I don't see him going to Carolina, but who knows? I like Del Rio, but I think he is tired of being down there with that horrible fanbase they have, and with murmurings of them possibly moving the team. I wouldn't put it past the Bills to get rid of Gailey, but who would want to go there? Norv is Norv, and I just get the feeling the Chargers see themselves going nowhere with this guy. I could see him going there. As for Dallas, as much as I like seeing them burn, I could see him going there too. One would say that Jerry Jones would want experience and go with a Gruden, or a Cowher, but I recall he had Jason Garrett as successor in the back of his mind at one point in time.

They don't. Don't get me wrong... Michigan is one of the best public schools in the country but Stanford is one of the best schools, period... in the world.

A bunch of overly prideful idiots got their feelings hurt but will suck it up if Harbaugh is a legit candidate to replace RichRod. They'd be even bigger idiots for keeping away Harbaugh than they were for hiring Rich Rod.

Agree about Stanford being better academically than Michigan. Disagree about Rich Rod. It hasn't been quick, but they've been improving consistently. He needs to avoid losing out, but I think they would have a pretty good shot at contending for the Big 10 title next year.

Why would UofM fans get pissed at that? It's true for virtually every other D-IA program.

Some of the big Michigan donors have a bit of a superiority complex when it comes to their academics, from what I know.

yes, there's the old joke....how do you know if someone is a u of m grad? just wait 5 seconds and they'll tell you.

Not sure if this is what you are talking about, but his first or second year he acknowledged the accusation that Michigan was allowing their football players to get by with less than acceptable academic standards. It got a lot of attention since it was coming from a former Michigan player, and pissed off a lot of MI loyals.

Here is an article: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/columns/story?columnist=forde_pat&id=2966536&sportCat=ncf

I also like the "How many Michigan grads does i take to change a lightbulb? 11. 1 to change it, and 10 to talk about how their Ivy League style education made it possible."
