Posted this in the thread in the NCAA forum before I saw this thread.

What a joke of a penalty. Slap on the wrist for Michigan. Harbaugh is now the most penalized coach in the HISTORY of the NCAA-Fourteen years of show cause that means NOTHING and they get to keep the title and nothing happens going forward. I never want to hear another word from him, Michigan or the Big 10 about how much more pious they are than the SEC or anybody else.

And I hope this is the last time I have to hear about the NCAA and punishment. Toothless is the nicest thing I can say about the bunch of hypocrites and they can’t go away soon enough. This one rivals their turning a blind eye to North Carolina’s academic scandal. There have always been sacred cows and now it’s there again for the world to see.

The NCAA is like the dinosaurs- extinct. They no longer have any power and need to go away. They aren’t going to punish offenders (except for the Akrons of the world.) And it’s open season for buying players now. What else is left for them to do?

I really thought more would become of this simply because Ohio State was a victim. The worst part is that Tennessee and Clemson have never formally been recognized as victims, despite acknowledgment that signs were sent to other teams to sway the playoffs.

That means less than squat since he won’t coach in college again. He’ll retire after his NFL stint which is why this is so ridiculous. All it means is that he is the biggest cheater in the history of NCAA head coaches based on length of show cause. It’s why he got out of Ann Arbor ahead of the posse.

That's not even half the story. He did have a barbeque at his house. One of our high school recruits attended the barbeque which was a violation because he could only be on campus during his visit. He was in the 11th grade. Someone took a picture of the recruit and Pearls wife at the cookout.
That picture wound up at Ohio State and that coach sent it to the NCAA. Pearl denied the recruit was at the cookout and when he was shown the picture, he said he didn't know the people in said picture.

Every coach in America knows better than to lie to the NCAA, especially when they have the incriminating evidence and provided it to you during the interview. Pearl was just an idiot and some of our fans just can't get past his firing.

Some people just hate Pearl.
Love him or hate him he took a program to the final four that was in the gutter when he arrived.
I remember all the laughing when Auburn hired him. He'll fall on his face etc, etc
I'll take a show cause for a damn final four.

Of course UM just got a slap on the wrist. Complete BS!! That just tells everyone else: CHEAT ALL YOU WANT. There will be no real punishment if you're caught.

Great of them to announce this too just a couple days before the #1 RB in the country decides whether to go to UM or Tennessee. Just in time huh?? Don't get me wrong...if Hiter doesnt 100% want to be here then we don't need him. Just suspicious timing though to take over a YEAR to handle this situation which was a no-brainer from Day1....BUT they make sure to release those details a couple days before the #1 RB announces his decision that just HAPPENS to be a 50/50 by all accounts between UT and the cheating azz garbage wolverines.

The NCAA is a damn joke. I hope we are doing whatever we want to in recruiting etc. There sure isnt any reason to stick to the arbitrary rules. FBS is gonna be like NASCAR....if you ain't cheating, you ain't trying. Disgusting. I hope the SEC leaves the NCAA and does our own thing.

Sad statement about sports and society in general when you can get caught cheating during a championship run and there are no significant repercussions.

Moore could've gotten suspended 6 games and it almost would not have matter. The Big 10 only has about 4 to 5 good teams.

That $20M will get watered down somehow by some other type of financial trick.

I don't care who it is but I want someone to physically abuse Big 10 teams during the playoffs.

What set me off was ESPN calling the fine a substantial amount, or whatever adjective those goofy morons used. Jimbo Fisher’s buyout was almost 4 times what Michigan used to manipulate the playoffs.
