Just got a Kicker recruit last week. With our limited numbers this year, it's telling on Palardy's effectiveness.
I can tell you that Michael is going to be fine. He kicked / punted with a minor sports hernia the whole season and didn't say a word. He is rehabbing naturally on it now, absolutely no kicking for around a month and then back into kicking and punting. The injury occurred because of the amount of reps kicking / punting and the LIFTING Michael did - and getting his body stronger, him better understanding when and when NOT to kick, and his COACHES better understanding how to properly train kickers and punters, limiting their reps and understanding kicker's weight training better, has me excited about his sophomore year.
I know folks are a little down on his season. Michael was not satisfied either. Michael is ahead of either Swenson and Byrum as far as physical tools - but MUCH more goes into making a successful college kicker / punter than most people know. I expect Mike's sophomore season to be much better.
Good luck with this recruiting class! - Coach Conrad
I heard from a very reliable source the Wilhoit was coming back to kick the Florida game. He is going to wear Palardy's uniform. He is going to miss the tieing PAT to make it more dramatic for us......again!
wasnt this the last time we beat Florida??? This may be the year......Jackson and Prentiss combine for 4 picks this game mark my words.....and ofcourse Wilhoit undercover!:loco:
I think that's a terrible assumption. You make it sound like 1 kicker is all any team ever needs. As a UT fan you should know that Kickers can get injuries as we have had more kicker injuries the last couple injuries than I've heard of in my whole life. Plus the recruit will not be on campus until next year so that will be Palardy's junior year. If he redshirts then his redshirt freshman year will be Palardy's senior year. That gives him a couple years to get used to the college game and rules and then have 3 years to be the main guy. Or it also gives us a backup plan if Palardy were to not be able to play because of injury. I don't think recruiting a kicker for this class has anything to do with Palardy's performance. Lets see what he does this year...
