I am listening to Salguero's radio show stream this morning. He had NFL Insider Danny Moore on the show this morning. They discussed Shannon and UT. Moore said that he expects that UT will be announcing Shannon as the DC today.

Lovin every minute of it

It tells me that he lost a DC and is trying to hire the best guy.

But For Dooley to hire someone that has more credibility than himself is a big step. Most coaches won't hire someone while they are on the hotseat that could inevitably result fans calling for the said assistant to replace the head man if things go south early.

Not really. I lived in Knoxville for nearly 14 years and you really don't realize how bad the media is in that town until you move out. The only folks that I follow that cover UT are outside east Tennessee. Most of the big media types there that make any noise are mostly opinion columnists/radio talk guys that love nothing better than to stir the pot. Adams, Rucker, Griffith, Bassilio... etc. None are worth listening to most of the time. JMO
Actually Adams shows some decent ethics in his columns. He tells it like it is, but with the truth at his side. The others would not know the truth if it bit them in the butt.

No....It's safe to say he is a Cane for life....But he will do well at Tennessee and will embrace the traditions here.....He will be good for the program.

That should not EVER happen...Shannon is a jewel as a DC but a piece of coal as a HC...Fans yelling for him to ever become the HC at Tennessee need their heads examined.

I agree with exactly what you are saying. RS doesn't deserve to be discussed as a potential next HC here but I think you are giving people way too much credit by expecting that not to be mentioned. We have threads everyday about bringing Wilson and Manning back on the coaching staff and that should tell us we have some serious issues when discussing coaching staff qualifications.

I literally just spit out my cereal on the keyboard.

The sentinel is the best source for accurate news though. You just read the articles and you can be sure the exact opposite is the truth.

Multiple sources have indicated to Volquest.com that the search for a defensive coordinator is not over. We believe that Randy Shannon is on the candidates list, but that no deal is in place for him. Multiple sources said Thursday night that no announcement has been planned for any coaching hire. Dooley is not scheduled to be in Knoxville on Friday; he's not even scheduled to be in the state.

Further, we are told by multiple sources that UT, specifically Dooley, and Shannon have not spoken.

Somethings not right here.

misinformation by hubbs?

We understand the in home visit by Dooley with McCullers went well yesterday and despite being recruited by Wilcox for the last few months, we do like where Tennessee is with him right now as we have for several weeks.

Tennessee we think has talked to Randy Shannon to some degree in the last day or so. I don't know any more details than that at this point.

Well I sure hope this is true. Will he pan out to be 'the man' for our defense and recruiting(?)...to turn our program around(?)...no telling but it's the most positive I've felt about the program in quite some time.

I think it will be a great move for the Vols and I love it !!

It wouldn't surprise me....Everybody on Volnation jumps the gun at every possible story that someone makes up and swears up and down it is legit and yet a very small percentage of them are...Typical vol fans, Get your hopes up only to get them dashed....I think I'll wait for the actual announcement before celebrating.

I am going to wait for the "official" annoucement before getting to excited. We've heard these things before with coaches and players. I believe RS is an excellent choice and could close the deal on some recuits we have been focusing on.

Let's not get ahead of our self here.
1. He is not on the staff "yet".
2. We "HOPE" our D is on beast.
3. Is he a VFL? Time will tell.

Don't get me wrong I'm praying we get him. I have went bananas over to much stuff that didn't happen these last few years. I'm being very calm over this.

I am starting to believe also this is just another stupid rumor fed started that kept feeding on itself and growing. I hope I am wrong, but I am starting to feel like Shannon has not been hired at all.

Let me give you a short class in management.. Hire people better than you and you will succeed! (not saying RS is better than DD) If you are scared of your subordinates pushing you out you have no buisness leading.

This is so true. The key to being an excellent leader is the people you have around you. No great business is great without good people running it.

Great post OP. :good!:

It's so obvious that CDD and the AD are pissed at the Knoxville media. Love it.

I would cut them out to, for as much false **** as they report.

Once the Knoxville media realizes that if they tell the truth, Dooley would be open to giving them info.
