LOL. He isn't mad about losing the coach, he's mad about him going to UT. That should let everyone know not to get too excited about this guy.

I'm all about making Urban squirm. Plus all the recruits love him and he knows our biggest rival inside and out. What a terrific Christmas present :dance2:

Drayton also noted that one of the factors in his decision to leave Florida dealt with the limited role of the running back in Meyer?s spread option offense.

?If you?re going to be a running backs coach, you want to be part of a system that involves the running back,? Drayton said.

Financial terms have not been disclosed. He made $135,000 at Florida this past year and was the Gators lowest paid assistant coach. Roper was scheduled to make $150,000 this year at UT.

Being running back coach at UF ranks right up there as being backup QB with the Colts when it comes to easy good paying jobs.

Sounds like a new and improved trooper, on the recruiting trail anyway. Trooper was a pretty good position coach. It would have been nice to keep him around. Anyway this softens the blow.

Funny how most of the Gator fans wanna downplay the hire and say he is overrated, but their coach is this distraught about it.

Just to add to their pain, Doc Holliday is scooting to WVU, leaving another coaching vacancy to fill. Of course, they are saying they have plenty of candidates lined up and all are better coaches than he was.

This is the beginning of the dismantling that occurs when a good team reaches the pinnacle. CUM will be put to the test over the next couple of seasons. This is the college version of the NFL's free agency.

“Eventually we broke down what was really important,” Drayton said. “Is it Tennessee-Florida, or is it all about career movement and family? For me it came down to what was best for my family and myself. That’s why I’m here.”

If UF wanted him so bad, why didn't they offer a competetive salary to keep him?

Who cares? I honestly doubt he's had much of a chance to prove himself at UF as a RB Coach. Wynn was a bit of a discipline case, but like LenDale White... once you get by the fact he'll never slim down, he's a pretty solid back as Green Bay has found out.

Wow, I just watch Drayton's press conference. I must say, I'm impressed with him. He sounds like a genuine guy who will make for a great addition to our program. On face value, if I were a recruit, I'd play for him.
