First, that's like asking a parent to choose his favorite kid. Second, other than that they are both very successful and obviously excellent coaches, they are so different you can't compare. SOS is a motivator and brash and cocky, very entertaining, if not sometimes a bit of a loudmouth. Meyer is much more reserved, much more stoic.

So no comparison by me.

Spurrier built that program into what it is today. He put UF on the map. There is no comparison, you're right. Spurrier is was and forever will be better than Urban.

Somewhat valid obsevation. But I do think there is probably reason to be concerned that the Gator defenders are going to be caught flat footed and a bit confused in the more complicated defensive sets. They are unfortunately probably reading all the press about their own inexperience and are going to be much, much too wedded to whatever the plan is, rather than reacting to the plays. Probably going to see some plays with Gator LBs sort of frozen by trying to make too much the exact right read.

Urban could not do what Spurrier is doing at Carolina.

I thought the spread option offense was the only offense that did this to a defense?

Im just saying we have said that about Spurrier since he came to UF. But gator fans always defended him.

Why? He spoke the truth, even if it was harsh. Plus he never cried in public

Don't misunderstand. I defended him as the best coach out there, no problem. And usually his little observations were just funny. But sometimes, even as a Gator fan, he made me a little nervous on the sportsmanlike front. Rare. But it happened.

I see what you're saying. But when did whatever he said turn out to be false? He would rip his team just as soon as he would rip on someone else's.

He's so far done what every other SC coach has ever done. Start of winning early games, then flutter at the end of the year to a .500ish record. This year may be different - but we'll wait til November to find out.

Again, I cannot remember the last coach at SC who beat UT and Florida in the same year. Can you?
