I freaking love Ainge. I remember during the 2004 Vol Walk vs Kentucky ( shortly after he injured his shoulder badly vs Notre Dame). I shouted his name he was on the other end of the street but he still waded through the crowd just to give me a high-five. I was 9 years old at the time so that literally made my day. Great player and a good person.

Ainge threw for nearly 9000 yards at Tennessee.......72 tds and less than half interceptions than tds...it’s far more likely that he would’ve caught a td pass from him than he would’ve “intercepted him”.

I actually know Eric (I know, everyone always claims to know everyone here but you will have to take my word for it). He has grown up a lot. After he broke his neck on the goal post during the LSU game our athletic department, attempting to help him, gave him a ton of pain medication. The rest is history and well documented. Through those trials, addictions he has had to grow up and mature. Sure, he can still be impetuous, like his Butch Jones comments last season, but he will reason with you.

I'd love to have a QB of his quality about right now, on second thought with this Oline, it could get him killed if not severely injured

If we had Cutcliffe his entire time here and had he not been injured, I think Ainge would be in close proximity to Peyton. He was a much better QB than he gets credit for.

Tyler Bray comes to mind there. Had the most physical tools ever for a qb at UT and wasted it.

I’ve never met EA so I can’t comment on his character. However I appreciate him giving his all for Tennessee when he played here and I really do enjoy his radio show. He has a terrific talent for breaking football terminology down and explaining it so the average lay person can understand it. Hell even my wife likes his show because she can follow what he says. If Tennessee ever offered an actual Basic Principles of Football class as an elective, Ainge would be a great choice to teach it.
