I don’t know who this guy is, but that’s very cool and I agree, if they want to appreciate Josh Heupel with us, I’d be honored. Then again, it could also be an open invitation for OU fans to insult us.. Oh well!

Vice versa, i believe a lot of Vols fans have great respect for the Sooners, and will root for them when they play TX, or aTm, or if and when they play other SEC schools like Ole Miss, Bama, Fla, or Ga.

Peyton presents better. Attends home games and visits with the football team each off-season. Where was Tee during the CWS? Easier to love what you SEE all the time.

If Peyton Manning was fired from UT and ultimately found a head coaching job somewhere else, would you root for Peyton to be successful?

That’s a very similar scenario. CJH is a very big deal in Oklahoma. And rightly so.

Peyton was a 3 yr starter, great QB, stayed his senior year, then became a hall of fame NFL quarterback while publicly supporting the Vols at every opportunity. Yeah, most people are fond of Tee, but Peyton is the GOAT.

Tee was a very good college QB who led us to a title. He will always be appreciated for that, along with his teammates.

Peyton was a transcendent college QB, and he proved it by being a transcendent NFL QB.

I think both players are viewed fairly.

Tons of Josh fans in Oklahoma. Tennessee fans have been kind and decent to the OU people, so as long as that remains the case OU fans will support UT - except against OU. Similar to our old Big 8/12 rivalry with Nebraska. Gotta hope they lose to us, but tons of respect for the program, fans, rivalry and traditions. Nebraska were never aholes to us (always a few in every crowd) and we weren't to them. Lots of great games with both teams winning over the years. We miss that rivalry.

Now, the fake UT - saxeT - is eternally hated. No amount of conference loyalty or anything else will ever change that. Oklahomans don't necessarily hate texans, just the shorthorns (and aTm, but we mostly just ridicule them for the failure that they have been and will always be). The night before the annual game in Dallas, Commerce Street used to be a thugfest with fans from both sides ending up drunk, fighting, and in jail. Police mostly keep it in check now, but for decades it was a scrum.

With texuns, you will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. Don't trust them with your money or daughters.

Berry Tramel has been a newspaper reporter for 40 years or so. Norman born and bred, going to/covering OU games all his life. He also appears on local radio. He writes some good stuff, but also some crap (like most, I suppose). There might be some clowns who claim OU and insult UT, but OU fans generally wouldn't claim them. Now, if it were not Josh, it might be different, but he is still Oklahoma Royalty.
