General Lee and Stonewall were a pretty good duo as well.Chasing a squirrel here, but I'm a huge fan of Grant and Sherman. Being a literal "Son of the South", this has caused me no small share of grief over the years. That being said, my family has roots in the southern Appalachians, and that area was more Union-leaning than Confederate, so maybe it's just in my DNA.
I've read a number of books about the history, experiences, strategy, and unique relationship between Grant and Sherman. Each one brilliant in their own way, and also damaged in their own unique way. But as a pair, they were among the best wartime commanders this nation has ever seen. Right up there with Ike and George, IMO.
Just thought I'd share that useless tidbit.
Go Vols.
He is from South Dakota. Those folks don't have alot of words but let their work speak for them.I'm behind Coach but ehh his speeches seem forced and lacking emotion and energy to me.
Coach needs to bring in the other Rock and have him do a motivation speech to the athletes and maybe he can teach Coach how to bring it!
I don't care if he yells about Rommel or eye discipline or uses "aight" every other word as long as he wins ball games. He's not paid to be a cheerleader; he is a football coach. He was simply doing what the university asked him to do tonight!I'm behind Coach but ehh his speeches seem forced and lacking emotion and energy to me.

I am 100% behind this guy. It’s taken me a few days to adjust to the hire, but I’m in fellas. Let’s do this. Go Vols.
Should be right at home in East TN. Maryville has a statue to Sherman.
Another squirrel. When I retire in a few years, we are returning to the Holy Land (East Tennessee). We want to be close to the Smokies. Property values in Wears Valley and Townsend are unreal, so we are slowly working our way south, down towards Tellico Plains. We vacation in the mountains every May. This year, we have two weeks, so we will start scouting in earnest for an acre or few we can put a 2-BR cabin on and watch the sun set over the hills.
Maryville would be nice, as would the Seymour area. But it's almost impossible to find a reasonable measure of privacy, with a reasonable view, at a reasonable price. Should have done this years ago. Now, we're just looking for a piece of land that says "this is it."
Much like with the Vols, hope springs eternal. It's out there. We just have to find it.
Grant had 3 times the scholarship offers to give out and 3 times the Mcdonald sacks to hand outChasing a squirrel here, but I'm a huge fan of Grant and Sherman.
