I read something, I think a couple of years ago, that by analyzing all the data, Christ's birthday would probably be in late September, early October.Wish it was but it isn't the Lord's birthday. December 25th, what we call Christmas is a caldera full of pagan rites, Pope Gregory XIII calendar "witching" and Catholic assimilation of paganism. Then adopted by Protestants. These days it's all about money-making but paganism remains at its core. We see it in such forms as elves, wreaths, mistletoe, the holly along with the use of red and green colors, Santa Claus who despite the Catholic tradition of being based on a real St. Nicholas, is really a representation of Odin, the Norse all-father god. Gift giving is a Roman tradition associated with a feast in honor of the god Saturn. Caroling is associated with songs sung at the Winter Solstice festival. There's more but you get the idea. HOWEVER, most folks don't want to know this for fear it will muck up the commercialism built around the holiday. Though some mention resentment of things like Christmas advertisements and other enticements as early as pre-Thanksgiving and sometimes as early as October's Halloween. It's all about money-making, not Jesus. So, Merry Chri$tma$. It really would be nice if it was more Jesus-centered even if not His actual birthday.
Nor are we given instruction to not celebrate it. That would fall under adiphora but it only makes human sense to celebrate one of the two major Holy Days associated with our salvation.Christmas is a made up holiday of the Catholic Church. Jesus birth is believed to have been late September early October. Because of several factors one being Pagans that entered the Church brought there customs and celebrations much that revolved around the Winter Solstice and Two the Jewish celebration of Hanuka. So Christmas was created then to celebrate the Birth of Jesus. No where in GOD'S Holy Word our we as Christians given a teaching to Celebrate the Birth of Christ. We as a Church of Christ Celebrate Each Sunday by gathering around the LORD'S Table to remember HIS Birth Life Death and Resurrection. Christmas is just a Holiday of Thanksgiving on Steroids. " IN CHRIST Alone"
so you believe in making up Scripture. I do not. Because when you do make up scripture then you can make up anything to fit your narrativeNor are we given instruction to not celebrate it. same to you!I want to tell all of my Volnation brothers, and sisters Merry Christmas! Also I would like to take a minute to tell Freak how much I appreciate his work on this forum. Most teams have a total trash forum, but we have the best ( count your blessings folks ). I wish the spirit of Christmas in all my vol friends hearts! Let's get a win over Indiana in a few days! In closing, do not forget the reason for season. We all something to be thankful for. Make sure you stop and take a minute to say thanks.
GO VOLS!!!!
There is no mention of anything I said being of Scripture. The fact that Christ was born is indeed Scriptural as is his death, burial and resurrection. All I am saying is that, even though we do not know the exact date of his birth, it is only human nature to celebrate it as we do Easter and what it represents. Having said my piece, I wish a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS to all.so you believe in making up Scripture. I do not. Because when you do make up scripture then you can make up anything to fit your narrative
I agree its Human Nature to want to Celebrate. All I am saying is that it is not Scriptural as the Catholic church has sold it to be. Same as Easter. Please feel free to study on its Origin that dates back to Nimrod. I do again Understand why people want to celebrate these days. All I am saying is that to make them out to be apart of Truth in Scripture and celebrate them with Special Services is not Truth. There is no mention of anything I said being of Scripture.
