If he starts next season Brandon portals out after the 26 season. If Brandon doesn’t start next season he isn’t sitting on the bench in 27 behind Gmac.
Why not? He’s young for his class. He can sit, develop, and learn for 2 years, then when Mac goes pro, Faizon starts in 2028 as a RSSo. with 3 years left. He’d be perfectly set up to succeed.

He will know the system very well by then. He’ll have no wear and tear on his body. He will be getting paid well while he waits. And he’ll have 3 years (which he won’t need) to prove himself to NFL scouts. It’s actually a perfect scenario for Faizon.

In the day and age of the transfer portal I just don’t see a 5 star QB sitting on the bench waiting his turn. The days of having two quality QB’s on the roster are long gone IMO.

Plus if Brandon is sitting on the bench could you imagine the offers he will get from teams needing a QB??

I disagree…sit, learn, play in mop up duty, go for the gold in 27, loser of the QB competition transfers out with 3-4 years of eligibility…if either transfers in my original scenario then they are getting bad advise
So you think Brandon will be happy sitting for two years?? I just don’t see it he may sit next year but if he isn’t on the field in 27 he is gone and the same for Gmac if he is the starter in 26 and gets beat out by Brandon he will be gone is 27.

Either way I stand by my statement one of the two will not be on the roster in 27.

Merc ends up getting serious playing time this season. JA is a one and done so CJH has no incentive to keep him on the field if he messes up. Merc is needed for next year. He will likely start because Fazion won't be ready as a true freshman. CJH has every reason to keep Merc on the hook. The best way to do that is with playing time. Don't be shocked if Merc starts after Georgia. CJH started Milton over HH. It took some games to make the switch.

Gmac will start next year
OK we get it. G Mac will start next year, according to you.

Meanwhile when looking at it from a position of having no preference, I think they will bring in a low rated transfer (a Gaston Moore type) to try be a stabilizing factor, but won't expect him to realistically compete for PT. Or Merk could stay since he was not expected to compete vs Nico this season anyway. If GMac really outperformed Merk as reports have stated, then I could see Merk leaving.

I don't know what will happen next season at this point. Brandon is considered more along the lines of a DJ Lagway talent QB that will be very difficult to keep off the field. He's just that good. While for some reason GMac was dropped as a recruit, we all knew he was a big time talent as well. One of them will likely start, I'm not prepared to name either of them the starter next year.

Maybe Brandon will be as good as advertised, we don't know. I still think Gmac starts next year

Arch Manning comes to mind.

I know this is different, but Arch Manning has waited 2 years behind Quinn Ewers despite being more talented and now he’s on a loaded team that hopefully doesn’t win it all 🤣

plus if Faizon is going against our first team defense as the scout team QB….he can get valuable reps despite maybe not seeing game action.

I’m excited for Faizon but I’d like to see what GMac can do. If he shows a better understanding of the offense than Faizon, he should start.

No...that's not the scenario I laid out at all....

Aguilar back in 26 while Brandon and MacIntyre are 2a/2b...

Brandon and MacIntyre battle it out in 27 for starter role...loser likely transfers

Sorry I misunderstood what were saying. I am in agreement Gmac or Brandon transfers in 27 in that scenario but I am not sure Gmac would stay for the 26 season if JA is back.

Hopefully has solid family guidance and understanding. He’s going to play and could be put in and/or starting anytime due to injury or performance. Now there’s no pressure and he’s getting some $. First sign of bad throws and crowd would be chanting for JA v ETSU. It’s not such a bad situation.
Put it behind and reassess after the season. Can’t have one foot out the door and perform if counted on. Show maturity and react the same way and it will work itself out.

I think Merk hits the portal. Brandon is not coming to Tennessee to sot on the bench. I think he fully expects to start as a freshman.Mac has the talent, but needs some time. Next year should be a heck of a QB competition. Merk could stay and be QB1, with Brandon and Mac battling for QB2/ 27 starter. Honestly that is the scenario I prefer, but I don't see it.

Merk will definitely leave as GMac progresses and jumps him in the depth chart. Brandon is a bit more SEC ready, build-wise, than GMac was coming in - so I see a true battle between the two. I think we will be in a good spot either way next year.
