Mentioning potentially John Brown at practice this morning...

I can think of only two ways to take this:

1. He has a luggage cart and he's at the airport.
2. He has a grocery cart and he is homeless.

How about this:

3.) Basillio is a tool that reports anything he hears in hopes that if it sticks he can say he "scooped it" and therefore anything he says should just be ignored

If he is not smart enough to pass two classes when that is all he had to focus on this whole summer I don't think he would have been able to learn the defense in time to help us anyway. Here's to him being smart enough!

I sincerely doubt they are making him wait. I do work in academia, and the faculty has to have grades in by Friday. I'm at a TBR school, so I don't know if UT's grades have to be in on the same day or not, but my guess is that his professors are trying to get all of their classes graded with little care one way or another about when a certain student's final grades get posted.

Exactly. Grades aren't (or weren't) in yet, for anybody. Yet people are pissed at the instructors for holding up their grades, dragging their feet, etc etc ad nauseam. Apparently if you don't treat the football players differently by grading their papers/tests a week before everybody else, then you're on a power trip to make yourself feel important. It's ridiculous.

Don't get too snide. Some people have an aptitude for certain things. When it comes to math I'm DUMB, just plain dumb. But if I have to use to apply those same formulas in a practical manner such as in an astronomy or physics class, I can actually do that. My math teachers have always accused me of either being lazy or trying to pull the wool over their heads. But number for the sake of numbers just don't mean anything to me.

Could be this player has an aptitude for learning football plays but not dry academics. Maybe if the course was structured in some way relative to football he'd ace the course. Some people have an aptitude or learning style that's different than the bulk of students.

I'm pretty sure it was reported that he had to pass 18 credit hours over the summer. It wasn't just 2 classes. 18 hours is a pretty decent load over the summer time, whether you're an athlete or not. Remember that during summer session you're operating on a compressed timescale and for the summer courses that I took, the curriculum was essentially identical to the full semester curriculum - same number of tests, labs, papers, etc...

Yeah, 18 hours isn't two classes; it's more like six. That's a hell of a load for anybody.

I have a similar numbers problem which I have had all my life. Unless someone else has said this same thing...I think you stated this once before...and I meant to say this at the time I read that.

It's hard to explain to most people exactly what it is...but "numbers to me don't make any sense"...is what I have always said...although at times before I "overthink" them I can handle simple addition, subtraction, division like any other 17-year-old. I just never advanced past that age w/ numbers...and most times am more like a 6th grader. :hi:

I am the same way, numbers mean nothing to me without context. I am required to use numbers every day, it makes sense to me though since I know exactly what those numbers represent and why I am dividing, subtracting, multiplying and cubing, etc.

I bet we won't hear till late this weekend, Monday morning.

I am scared to check the nation this weekend as I fear bad news.

eric, enjoy your weekend. this was what I said on page 3 of this thread and it is still accurate. If anything, more unlikely that he makes it...

he might make it but if he do, staff will be shocked...

and in this case he can claim to be right either way: moving in or moving out....

That could be said about most "sources" around here. lol.

Toss a coin and you would be better than “occasional semi-accurate”.

People are so anxious to be first that they report before verifying. Think about it. A kid took a test. A professor will grade it and post the results. Then we will all know. Do people honestly think the professor is sharing information with anonymous sources?!?

wrucker: Been telling everyone not to get their hopes up for a reason.

LWS: None of the staff are optimistic.

37620: Reading the tea leaves. <10% chance of Monday's news being happy. Look, I'll be throwing a party if it happens (just like when G Williams made it in against the odds), but I am not getting my hopes up.

18 hours over the summer is Hell. A normal course load squeezed into little over a month or so. This is just setting yourself up for failure. What classes is he taking?
