Not sure if anyone has mentioned this but there is probably huge gap between our Head Coach vs our players regarding expectations.

When you constantly lose, after time, your level of expectations of winning lowers, and you begin to put more blame on yourself.
When you constantly win, after time, your level of expectations of winning is very high, and you begin to put blame on others (sore loser mentality)

I think after this Georgia game , CJP realized that his players are in a different mental game then him. As a good coach, I think he needs to figure out how to get these players on a "winning mental state" WITHOUT all the previous dumb things that Butch tried.

For the older players, I bet they feel like NOTHING has changed.

I think they need to make a change Quarterback. Nothing against JG, but there needs to be some sort of change so it DOESN'T feel like its the same season/players over and over.

I feel like all of their midrange passes are higly successful. HG is dead on under 15 yards, especially those slants. Yet all they want to do is 2 yard sideline passes and 30 yard bombs. Hes also not great at reading the D. Im fine with him as QB for now. We need to see him in a close game where JG can give us a definite answer. Right now the OL and playcalling and other factors isnt giving us a clear picture of whether he is the guy or not.

I highly doubt the older players feel that nothing has changed. They are probably shocked at the adjustments by having a true football guy at HC and I can only imagine that if anything, they're having a difficult time adjusting not only their gameplay, but their mindset as well.

As for JG, I like him. He's tough. I really wanted him to start last year. But I agree, I kinda think maybe Chryst should be given a real shot sooner rather than later.

Is there a real reason JG gets the starting job? Does he really outperform Chryst that much at practice? Is it a not-so-good choice by the coaching staff? Do the players rally around JG? Some other reason?

The reason JG is the starter is because he beats out KC in practice and is the better QB.

I don’t feel like JG is the problem and has played well. Maybe I’m blinded by the fact there was so much hype around JG when he signed with UT and want him to be the guy.

Exactly this. If Kc gave us the best chance to win wouldn’t the coaches have him out there? I feel Like this is just common sense.

JG has a lot to improve on no doubt. But I believe with another year of coaching, he will be much better next year.

Pretty thoughtful. The change could conceivably be a catalyst, a hard reset and a clean reboot.

Or if could be throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

I'm not saying that JG needs to change because he's not the better QB. I'm actually saying he needs to change because of the culture.
For example: Imagine you've been working at the same place for 2-3 years or so. You are buddy buddy with certain co-workers. You and the manager (QB position) are pretty tight. All of a sudden, the company you work for gets bought out and there is a huge shift in management. Now, you still have the same manager (QB) but because of new management, you guys can't goof off as much as you did. You have eyes constantly. This is making your manager friend to be more strict on things. He keeps on telling everyone just to grind it out but sales are still crappy. Because of this, everyone is getting frustrated. All of sudden a new manager comes along, that you don't know very well, but starts off more businesslike. Eventually you come to work harder because of that "friend-type" relationship. It's all business now..
